DRDO is always vocal but not a performer...
when will tejas be ready....when our Mk1 will roll out pakistan will roll out Jf 17Mk 2 so, why will anyone buy Tejas when they will have advance system at less/similar cost...
indian defense industry need a reform... not only defence but all PSU's...
1. stop quota in job...
2. make people responsible for what they do,...
3. Bring transparency in system...
4. Increase the pay band of worker and scientist working..
5. increase the budget and R&D investment..
6. Time management..is key..
7. keep politicians at bay...when it come to research and development....
8. make armed forces choose indigenous weapon platform..
9. Speak less, work more...
10. collaborate with foreign firms and do reverse engineering....

With current capabilities JF 17 MK 3 can only match Tejas.

we are undermining the the Jf 17 capabilities.... though the virgin version of Jf 17 are not that good...but the MK2 will be assimilate some of the very new technologies.... and indian tejas MK2 is still no where in sight... we are still not have a confirmed design..let go the first LSP...

I have discussed with many Pakistani friends. They told that it will some change in avionics in MK2. they are not planning any change in basic platform such as we have planned for tejas such as new dimension, new engine, High AOA etc.

weren't they going to change the radar and uprade the engine....
I heard pakistan has plan to upgrade the Jf17 current radar to AESA and the engine will be replaced with the chinese engine ..currently in testing....

I haven't heard of any AESA. Simply changing russian engine will not make it better. Since russia has refused to export, It will be powered by inferior chinese engine which is nowhere near in performance to Russian engine.

See, the point is a plane is hand is worth 10 in the bush. We don't have a single combat-ready Tejas. That, is itself a cause of concern.

In order to meet what Chander has said, HAL will have to manufacture at least 200 Tejas jets per year including processing orders from IAF for 200 jets and also meet the requirement of foreign customers. That includes the smooth running of logistics and spareparts division, ensuring supply of parts on time, quality check, availability of emergency stock in case a country asks etc.

Investing in a foreign platform isn't just a matter of money but a sign that another country trusts us. We should emerge as a trustworthy nation and for that we need to streamline our own processes.

HAL should be hived off into 6 divisions, PSU or private whatever:

1- Utility Helicopter division (Dhruv, LUH, Cheetah etc)
2- Gunship division (LCH, Rudra and even future projects like MCH etc)
3- Fixed wing transport division (MRTA projects, Dorniers etc)
4- Foreign license fighter division (MKI, Rafale, etc)
5- Indigenous fighters division.
6- Drone and UAV division
7- Logistics, spares contracts and others commercial division for all the above.

All these should be separate companies, independent off each other in every way.

It seems the chair or the office of the DRDO director is infected with "loudmouth virus"...first it was Dr.Saraswat and Dr.Chander is the next victim. Why not DRDO first promises the nation that there will be no delays in any of the defence projects and all Indian requirements will be met in the given time frame. Next the DRDO should end corruption and nepotism that has been rampant.

What india needs is balls to take hard calls. Press them to work for 16 hours for next 6 months. Destroy all obstacles and paperwork. Open a fcking Mirage and see their weight and balance.

U think HAL doesn't know the solution? They know it. Politicians and babus are stopping them.
