India is Paying the Price For VD Savarkar’s Advocacy of Rape

I agree; the point being?
Anyone who targets our culture and religion should be responded in kind. We should not take insults in the form of liberalism. If we keep being apologetic, people will take advantage of you. Surely history has proven this not only in India but many other parts of the world.

There were reasons of state why temples were destroyed; it is better to be frank and forthright and to quote them than to hide behind these moralistic shields.
Frank and forthright?

Temples were and are centers of corruption and power.

I think we should always preserve our own culture. Of course, some parts which are not applicable in 21st century should be wholly discarded. Culture is one of the most important asset to any country.
of Apartheid?

As of today, I am a secular liberal democrat who hates the Congress, the BJP and the Communists.

Problem is, many in India cannot fathom that you can be opposed to all governments, because they do not serve the people or the interests of the people.

India still is stuck in a binary mode. If you oppose the BJP, then depending on your ethnic or religious orientation, you are either Congressi, or Communist or Jihadi.

India, or any country for that matter, cannot mature, unless we give up these pretenses

These are multiple and diverse and divergent sentences, but it is not clear that there is even the slightest content in them. These are just platitudes, and mean nothing. Let us examine them one at a time.
  1. Anyone who targets our culture and religion should be responded in kind.
What targeting are you referring to? This kind of vague generalisation is the poisonous vague threat that politicians use. Why are you following their mischievous and toxic ways?
  2. We should not take insults in the form of liberalism.
This is the slogan of the Islamist who wants to kill the Danes who cartooned Hazrat Mohammed. Are you a saffron version of those? What insults by liberals are you referring to, or is it yet another vague New Year resolution?
  3. If we keep being apologetic, people will take advantage of you.
What apology? And what advantage? Can you provide concrete examples, or are you cribbing from a Sanghi web-site? Every one of your points is a bland platitude that could cover anything or nothing.
  4. Surely history has proven this not only in India but many other parts of the world.
No, it hasn't. It is for you to prove otherwise, not for your readers to read your mind.

Please - I say this with the greatest respect for you as a person - do not tell me what I may or may not believe. And please do not use your two-dimensional analysis to categorise those who do not agree with you with some low class of opposition.

I am opposed to the BJP, vehemently opposed, but am not at all inclined towards the Congress, or the Communists or the Jihadis (it seems that you have no space in your menagerie for the ordinary, decent Muslim man or woman who recognises the greater jihad and prefers it to the lesser jihad).

So why must I perform for your political entertainment in the way that you have decided that I should perform?

It is sad to have to wade through these picayune arguments.

if you are talking about casteism, I'm fully against that and so are many of my friends. Slowly it is being eroded.

One dalit taxi driver told me the following, when we were having an interesting discussion on the caste system.

Those upper castes, who claim that they are against casteism, simply can end the caste system by identifying as a dalit in all spheres of life. But they won't will they?

They have to be convinced about where they are going wrong. If points are valid, we should take steps and reform our religion.
We should not take insults in the form of liberalism.

I'm not talking about silly cartoons. I'm talking about open abuses that some people use. Again, like my previous point, if there is something which is valid, we should definitely take that into consideration.

There are many examples of this. India being too defensive with respect to Kashmir initially and Pakistan taking advantage of that and sending in militants. The 1990s expulsion as well.
Take Japanese invasion of China.
There are so many examples. Do you think ideas spread peacefully? Islam wouldn't have spread to India if Islamic invasions didn't happen. Christianity wouldn't have spread to Europe if the Christians weren't aggressive.

His take on this is absolutely correct.

In any case, should Muslims now do the type of jihad sanctioned by Indian secularists?

Isn't that itself promoting casteism? You are just simply switching from one caste to another.

Apologies for stirring you up. My comment was simply that most of India has not advanced beyond the binary thought process. They think that just because someone is against the BJP govt, they must be supportive of an alternate party or ideology, usually attributed to their religious or regional background.

I was not speaking on your behalf, or trying to intrude on your political views.
