Saraswati river emerged from Sahyadri mountain range? :o:

Ashok Gulati, an agricultural economist at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations think tank in New Delhi, called the enterprise, “a good wish and a good dream.” He suggested, though, “if we can protect our current rivers, that’s a better strategy than looking for a lost river.”

This!

Nothing against reviving an ancient river but IMHO, it would be far more beneficial to the poor local farmers to utilize the scant resources to build small dams/check dams than to look for a lost river - considering that we have absolutely no regard for our other sacred rivers Ganga/Yamuna. What is worse is that it is a very water scarce region and even if you dig it up, it would only end up as a dry river.

In fact, the whole of India should take up small/check dam building on a war footing to harvest whatever rains we get if we are to avoid the coming water catastrophe in India, the likes of which haven't been seen in modern times!

Like in historic times, Yamuna River now has to be diverted west to meet Sarasvati River else it will just remain a stream.
