India is an incredibly dynamic nation: US lawmaker

greeks have more contribution than us, and look where they are...

if the question is about contributions, better ask those who called India as the 'mother' as to why they specifically described India as 'mother', ask what inspired them and what was that uniqueness that they saw in India, and those who described India as mother were not ordinary fools, i have not gone to length and breadth to measure the contributions of everyone.

But i can say this, the americans measure India using their own parameters, and there parameters are well known, some of them are-- how much Indians will embrace the American culture, how much Indians will bow to American pressure, will Indians accept American dominance or will they threaten their dominance. Will the Indians follow their lead or do the Indians have an intent to follow their own path. There are many other, and at the end, the cheapest is that they measure how mature and civilized the society is solely on the GDP/capita basis,I'm not complaining that this is a wrong criteria, but this will not tell the contributions of the society, the historical importance, the values, the evolution with time and lot other stories of advancement and achievement.
I'm drawing the Americans in to picture because the article is about US describing India. Now, point is simple, our ancestors had accomplished a lot and certainly, we don't need anyone to tell us what we are. if we are looking to others to know what we are or to measure ourselves, than we will never be recognized as a country that can lead the world. we know our problems,we have to come up with our own solutions.

All is well and good. We all are very proud of it. We are lucky to have born in India which is one of the oldest and brightest civilization.

However, we should not be relying only on past and boast on the achievements our ancestors did 1000 years ago. We should work towards the greater India where our generations after 1000 years boast about us. So again I say ignore all the praises, forget all the achievements and start to work afresh to remove all the evils in our society to make India realise its true potential once again.

below is my earlier comment, hope you will understand my point of view here.

"arrogant??? not at all, but you are right, presently we are in very bad situation, most of our leaders lack vision and insight into people's wishes, they are more into dividing than uniting, we lack integrity and sense of sovereignty. we are too much diversified.Worst of all , we Indians don't respect each other.we lack the will to dominate."

To have a population of 1.2 billion, we have to be dynamic. If you know what I mean ;)

Oh I know what you mean ^^

Earlier Thursday, Rao hosted a welcome reception at her residence for two newly elected House members, Ami Bera, the only Indian American member of US Congress, and Tulsi Gabbard the first ever Hindu-American to be elected to the US House.

The presence of Bera and Gabbard in the US Congress "brings great meaning to our mission and our task of taking US-India relations further forward to greater and greater heights," she said.
I don't understand this. What has this Congress Representative Ms Gabbard got to do with India? She is not even remotely connected to India. So why? Only because she is Hindu?
