Among the countries that were subjected to prying by the National Security Agency, or NSA, India was one of its top five targets, and ranked above other BRICS bloc economies such as China, Russia and Brazil, which were also reported to have been under the scanner of the U.S. government agency.

I guess it is easier for America to spy on India, considering that India's de-facto official language is English.

Whereas for China and Russia, you would need translators, who you could not necessarily depend on to give you the correct translation.

In one of the maps, based on the amount of telephone and email communication data collected by the agency, Iran was shown as the primary target, warranting 14 billion reports, followed by Pakistan (13.5 billion), Jordan (12.7 billion), Egypt (7.6 billion) and India (6.3 billion).

Interestingly, these are all countries with large Muslim populations. Hence America's deep interest.

India must start to promote its own Internet and other tech firms and reduce the reliance on US technology. Brazil is doing the same. It's time India got a backbone and stood up to for itself.

The US will try to keep India down and contain it just like the US are containing us. The Yankees realise China and India are the 2 countries that have the potential to surpass the US in global power. Right now China is ahead of India in power so we get most of the attention but once India reaches a point that its power is able to challenge the Yankees, then they will give more attention to India.

They also use the divide and conquer strategy very well by pitting India against us as strategic rivals and want to play each against the other to the benefit of US interests.

Anyone thinking the US suddenly cares about India is very naive. The Asia-Pacific 'Pivot' is meant to contain all challengers from Asia which includes China and India.
