India is 73rd in women’s participation in politics

The point of the article is that the region needs to do more to help women get into positions that are equal to men. Both Pakistan and India have had women in powerful leadership roles, but more needs to be done.

It just occurred to me that (coincidentally) both women were not only assassinated, but their names were tarnished (Bhutto with massive corruption scandal, and Gandhi with the Golden temple incident).
I though south asia is more open to women in politics than the western countries. How many british female MPs are in powerful position?
