Chinese newspaper has quickly refuted a top Indian scientist’s claims that India’s ballistic missile defence technology is superior to that of China. India is 10-15 years behind China in missile technology, Chinese Rear Admiral Zhang Zhaozhong was quoted saying on the Global Times front page on Friday.

The report was prominently reproduced across the Chinese media. “India’s technology for its measurement and control system, which is used to trace launched missiles, remains at a very low level, and they are unable to constitute a complete and reliable missile defense system,” Zhang said.He was reacting to claims of India’s superior missile technology by V K Saraswat, who heads the Defence Research and Development Organisation.

印度人什么都敢说，不要太认真就好。如果只是比武器，还不好说差距。毕竟印度的武器什么品牌都有。当年北洋水师（中国清朝末年的海军）还号称亚洲第一呢。但是仅仅从导弹技术来说，美俄以外，欧洲也不敢自称比中国强。当然，导弹技术也有很多类型。但是无论从什么方面来说，印度的导弹，和中国比不是多少年的问题，而是多少代的问题。就好像大刀长矛和飞机坦克的差距，就是这个性质。

China has ICBM, which India does not have. China has proven ASAT capability, which India have not.

So definitely China is ahead of India in missile technology.

However there is a physical limit to the reach and accuracy which is the hard stop as far as development goes. India will reach there in case the necessity arises. As of now these are like exciting days for scientists of India achieving one technology success after another.

Good that China is ahead, which provides the right impetus to a laggard and happy-go-lucky attitude of India

I must ask Indian members to accept the truth that China is ahead of us in missile technology. China has demonstrated Anti-Sat missiles and is quite capable with ICBMs and this is the truth. India is far behing even with Agni 3. So lets stop saying we are ahead and accept the facts on the ground and those that are public knowledge. It is interesting to note that we are 10 to 15 years behind and the gap is not impossible to reduce.

But we have all we need with agni 3 and 5.

I too agree, China is ahead in missile technology. But our case is not like that we are having "just bows and arrows". Whatever we have, is sufficiently good enough. You know, to light fire, you do not need entire match box. just a match stick, or in case two more if needed..
