India intends to purchase four long-range bomber Tu-22M3 in Russia. Information about this, as reported on Monday, July 11, "Interfax", is placed on the stand of the state program Make in India in the international industrial exhibition in Yekaterinburg.

According to the same information, the number of weapons that India desires to purchase, also includes 12 anti-aircraft missile systems S-400, 80 Mi-17 helicopters and six airplanes Il-76, converted into machine Airborne Early Warning and Control (AWACS) with Israel Falcon radar.

Also, India intends to lease two nuclear boats Akula II ( «Pike-B" Project 971).
Currently Delhi leases in Russian nuclear Chakra boat (K-152 "Nerpa" in the Russian Navy), has three AWACS aircraft A-50 (IL-76 platform), and also bought S-400. Their exact number was not specified, it was reported earlier, we are talking about five dvuhdivizionnyh shelves (Information Agency indicates six regiments).

Why do we need dedicated bombers ?
Whom are we intending to bomb ?

Because I bet you cannot provide me or airforce or navy with a stamp paper guaranteeing that India will never ever face military problems from beyond Pakistan with your whole property and your future generations property at stake. Can you ?

I think our history has quite proved it.

On its present use , hint , get the range of Tu22M3 with refueiling and a 2000+km ALCM .... now compare that with the distance between A&N to South Vietnam..... isn't that wonderful.

PS:-Sorry if it offends you, not meant. Just trying show what has happened and what can happen.

If ever India decides to buy, How many and will be new or used?

Hint :- it will open up a second front for our potential conflict partner .... till now they are just to take care of their south western front , with it a second front at south east will be there.

And these will not be alone , navy ships will complement it.

Sir,
Can backfire be configured to carry and fire Brahmos?
with the kind of range 22M has, i suppose, it could be a part of possible strategy against CBGs, that Indian navy might have to encounter in near future in IOR.

It can surely carry BrahMos..
How many is the question.?

Tu-22M3 seems like overkill. a couple sqaudrons of Su-34 Fullback wold be perfect.

Since we have SU 30 ; That would only have little or no additional benefit

Tu 22 will be used along with Su 30 and Rafales which will provide it air cover

One TU 22 carries 24 Tonnes of Bombs -- It is a Bomb Truck

One SU 34 / Su 30 carries 8 tons

Now India is a MEMBER of MTCR ;
we will buy LONG range Cruise missiles to be used with TU 22

these are all Russkies propaganda for Indian fanboys to let them orgasm. ek rafale deal sign hota nahi chale hai itna sara list leker. plus if we need long range bomber su-34 would be a better option . it can cross Pak while bombing it to afghanistan and it can return too to pakistan to again bomb it.
