As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plan to bolster the nation’s military posture, India is to acquire 22 Boeing AH-64E Apache attack helicopters and 15 CH-47F Chinook heavy lift helicopters for the Indian Air Force (IAF), valued at $2.5 billion.

Approval stage ::
Officials in the know said the attack helicopter (Apache) and the heavy lift helicopter (Chinook) are currently in the Government approval stage.

“The Ministry of Finance and Cabinet Committee on Security needs to approve...before contracts are signed. All other steps are done,” officials said.

Sources pointed out that India’s defence acquisition process mandates that all contracts that are in excess of $50 million require 30% offsets. Way back in 2013, Boeing had signed a memorandum of understanding with Dynamatic Technologies of Bangalore, to manufacture the aft pylon and cargo ramp assemblies for the Chinook. Sources indicated that Boeing had done this in anticipation of the IAF order.

the best things about this deal is.......we will get these apaches within months and not within years

I'm not sure about the months part but the main reason why Apache had an edge over the Mi-28H was because Indian officials were always concerned about Russia not meeting the requirements of delivery dates, modernization and repairs.
Otherwise Night hunters were equally good, they went undetected by swedish defence system despite penetrating 30kms inside swedish territories.

I doubt it, the norm is delivery within 36 months of the deal being signed.

Industry sources: Boeing agrees to extend India's Apache, Chinook deadline for 10th time :D

Rahul Bedi, New Delhi - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly
29 June 2015
India's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has obtained another three-month extension from Boeing on its offer of attack and heavy lift helicopters for the Indian Air Force (IAF) at the price negotiated for them in late 2013, industry sources said.

They added that this was the 10th postponement request that Boeing had agreed to from the MoD for 22 AH-64E Apache and 15 CH-47F Chinook helicopters, in a deal estimated at around USD2.5 billion. The extension was agreed on 30 June and remains valid until 30 September.

The MoD wrote to Boeing on 28 June asking for the deferment, as the purchase of the two helicopter types still awaits clearance by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
