India: Hindus beat Pastor unconscious

I don't know if this was targetted towards me so here goes anyway:

I have been quite selective in saying its a certain number of pastors etc....not all of them...nowhere close. In fact I would say they are a small minority....though who knows the exact figures....it will depend who you ask and their personal bias of course.

Vast majority of Christians and Christian leaders I have absolutely no problem with. The last thing I seek to do is colour a whole minorty on actions of a few of them....and minorities should likewise not have this attitude towards the majority when some of them act in a bad way.
No bro it wasn't pointed to anyone in particular, it is just sad to see that many members here has extreme hatred for Christians while they don't know these evangelicals hate us Catholics even more than they hate hindus , and I am not going to point fingers at anyone as I don't want Indians fighting among themselves in the line of cast, creed and religion on a Pakistani platform. I have nothing against hindus, infact I am more hindu than many pdf hindus here:p: ask @Mike_Brando

OK I get your point, I just wasn't sure. I know the inter-Christian hate as well that often takes on political colours too. I won't forget when that Northern Irish chap (Paisley I think) had to be escorted out of parliament for hollering that the Pope the anti-christ has arrived (when Pope was visiting to give some speech to parliament - I forget if it was british or N.I parliament). That was Pope J.P II, he was overall a good guy in my books.

and I am not going to point fingers at anyone as I don't want Indians fighting among themselves in the line of cast, creed religion on a Pakistani platform.

Yes this poop flinging is getting quite tiring from all sides concerned. Anyone that is wise knows that defence forum crowds make a poor representation of the overall opinions in a country/society....so in a way its not too big of a deal for me what image gets portrayed. I just hope no one takes anything too personally is all.

I don't doubt it. My family also enjoys various Christian celebrations as well and attending various festivities. My mom even went to Bible study sessions just to get a better understanding of what Jesus's message is...she is still very fond of those memories and stories. I myself had a quite a fascination for the Bible since I loved reading stories of all sorts...and the Jehovah's witness that visited us a few times left me a very impressive illustrated bible stories for children.

The iconography, symbolism, structure of catholicism (it was influenced from the Roman priestly class after all - which in itself has parallels to Greek and thus Vedic rituals) has many parallels with various parts of Hinduism...so the intermixing is not strange to me at all....it is cross-faith understanding and tolerance that will ultimately provide a dynamic cohesive social fabric for India. Thats when we will truly be Secular without caring much for the word itself....that is all we should want really. So the way I see it is we are still in a crucial growth and development phase as a nation...not just economically but cohesively...but I am personally optimistic everything will work out well in the long run....because the basic ingredients are all present as a legacy to India's long established tolerance of faith and personal belief.

I am a Bengali catholic and I don't deny that evangelicals are like Christian talibans minus the beard and AK 47. It pains me a lot when hindus paint the whole Christian community with the same brush. An average Christian is just as poor or rich as any average hindu, facing the same issues, having pretty much the same cultural root. I invite my hindu brothers to visit any catholic church, we pray for our country and humanity, I haven't seen any kinds of conversion till date . I myself visit durga and kali temples and feel extremely blessed bowing down to the mother goddess. Please stop painting us as some kind of evil soul mafias who chase hindus with cross and Bible in hand.
The ones that you're talking about are the members of Jehova's Witness.I was once approached by one of their members who was a British lady married to a local Sikh Punjabi. She tried to brainwash me by saying all sorts of negative things about Dharma but i calmly refuted her facts with counter facts, although i was feeling angry inside that she was openly ridiculing my religion that too in front of me but still i calmed myself down thinking about the age of the lady.I didn't say anything negative about Christianity because personally i have got a great respect for Jesus Christ who according to me was an Avatar of Lord Vishnu. At last when she saw that her plan of brainwashing me was failing she tried to lure me by saying that she would introduce me to her neice who would be coming from England within the next few days if i agree to attend the Sunday mass at her church. My reply was a polite "No".Not that i had any reservation of attending a mass but i simply didn't like her way to lure me to abandon my faith:coffee:!!

How is that radicalism?
All religions do weird shit to recruit people, at least some don't beat people with bats and clubs to stop them from practicing their own.
That is radicalism.

Radicalism has many forms...You are speaking about radicalism in violent form...I am speaking about radicals trying spread their religion....

I hope you understand it.....

Yes they can be quite persistent. They were quite like that to my family (in the nicest politest way at least). My parents were always accomodating to hear what they had to say....but they always were quite firm that no we have not the slightest inclination to convert....we just want to hear your side of the story and bridge some common understanding etc.

I was too small to understand back then...I just enjoyed the picture book and the colourful pictures of battles, struggles and great faith and strife.

Only later I understood what Jehovah's witness are like, what their aims are etc etc. as one of the more militant converting faiths out there (along with the Mormons and others)....and then I got the full understanding (with help from my father) in realising the fundamental difference between Dharmic and Abrahamic faiths with regards to what conversion means etc...

.At last when she saw that her plan of brainwashing me was failing she tried to lure me by saying that she would introduce me to her neice who would be coming from England within the next few day

Was her neice beautiful?? :smitten:

On topic: you have made a mistake... you should have countered her ridicule politely by ridiculing equal ridiculious laws of christianity.. (without disrespecting Jesus) coz church did things which jesus never told... coz in every religion what founder had said vanishes and ridiculous law move in..

Etymologically it evolves from various political terms that basically have roots in either extremism or far left or right.
In religion however, you would call the movement happening right now in France radicalized not something minority religions in India do to entice people to join them.

So true my friend. The message of jesus is an everlasting one....as Johnny Cash said its like he's talking straight to you and me!

Thats what I hope most people realise rather than getting caught up in the man-made interpretations to control society in one particular narrow-minded way....and leaving no room for debate and prompts tension and eventual desertion.

The people who are trying to entice others to join their religion is also radical in a non-violent form....

I don't wish to bring anti articles or videos against any community. .. I would like to mention one thing... There is a tree in next street to our home... years ago.. a lady started decorating tree with flowers etc... slowly they put a stone and constructed a small base... slowly she started publicity. . then she acted like god possessed her on a particular day in year... announced that day as festival. .. now hundreds if not thousands come to the tree to pray for god everyday...... the thing am amazed is...
That's a regular modus operandi... Bhagyalakshmi mandir is one such creation.

im the one who planted tree when im in Schooling...
What an irony...!
