India headed for economic doom, prominent US thinktank says

Don't these American "think tanks" have better things to do?

Oh wait, this its exactly what they always like to do anyway.

They just replaced the word China with India and went back to the collapse theories.

China is hard to figure (since its a closed society) India is an open book. We need keep that in mind. Though You may be right CD and thats what I hope.

stories like these are a favourite pass time for american think tanks.i have heard these stories about india and china both.

(no offence to the thread starter).

America was perfectly fine with our "closed society" when they needed China as a meat shield against the Soviet Union. It's all politics and mind games.

People should look at the economic indicators themselves, and make up their own minds.

These "conservative US think tanks" are just doing what they always do.

.
The "impending economic doom" of India is more of a political problem than a structural problem. Structure is fine and economy will be back in no time if the politics change.

If India fails, the world will feel it. If China fails the whole world will shake. If America fails, civilization will fall with it.

.
the Americans always dream like they will rule the world forever. quite pathetic.

i put India growth for this fiscal at 4.9 percent, next year a bit above 5 percent.

chanting your american dreams, like always.

NYT also has a story on this with Chidabaram's photo on the front.

Nobody cares what you put it at. A pak in Japan. One is irrelevant and the other is being eclipsed by the other East Asian nations. You have the audacity to insult others?!

I don't know the definition of "doom" described by western think tank.

If you consider economic indicators like poverty, illiteracy, standard of living, social equality, inflation, disparity etc. India is in an economic depression. The situation is as grim as in some parts of Africa.

But there are developments and there are people rising to confront our problems. I wouldn't just call them problems, i call them challenges. While there are corrupted Politicians, there are also honest people who are trying their best.

And i won't take these American think tanks seriously. Why didn't these think tanks predict 2008 economic crisis that emerged from their backyard? Were they sleeping?

And i don't see any serious problem with this years budget. Not the best, but its better than what i was anticipating.

America is full of two things - McDonalds and Thinktanks. I like neither.

According to American Think Tanks -

Indian Economy will remain in doomed state Unless India opens up its economy for US Companies like Walmart that to without any restrictions....

My parlour says the costs are increased due to higher tax and because its air conditioned

.
Of course, when an American predicts positively about India, all the posters will applaud the Americans' wisdom in recognizing India's potential.

.
This might actually bode well for India. The West tends to portray negatively those they deem as competitors. If they start sweet talking too much - Beware!

.
After implementation of 6th Pay commission even if the cost rises by 10% it will not affect the lively hood. This is what Congress might have thought. ??? I am not good in economics :P

.
NEW DELHI: India is heading straight for economic failure post-Chidambaram's budget as a direct result of the lack of meaningful economic reform, says Heritage Foundation,

Looks like Chidambaram and Congress Party have been caught with their Pants down. God save India.

On expected lines, Indian leadership is simply impotent. Awaiting NaMo
