He took a flight to Kathmandu intending to then go to India & surrender. In Kathmandu, after meeting some family friends who told him that he should expect no leniency from India, he decided to go back to Karachi. As he was preparing to board the flight, he was arrested by Nepali police and he was found to be in possession of 4 Indian passports apart from the Pakistani one on which he was traveling. The Nepali police contacted Indian authorities who then picked him up.

He & his family members said as much. He had told other members of his family that if he wasn't back by a certain date, that they should assume that he had surrendered to Indian authorities & should leave Pakistan & go to Dubai. Which is what they did. Subsequently all of them were given visas on their Pakistani passports to come to India.

The delay in his execution is what happens with our justice system. Very slow. Nothing particular about this case.
