Well I would like to see a source saying that India is not actually building but repairing houses.

Here it is, these are NOT totally newly built houses, that's why I have said it's misleading.

The real record may be another matter, however.

What's sad is that India is only "engaging" with Sri Lanka because of China.

Quite the contrary. India Sri lanka association dates back to centuries. China started investing in Sri lanka very recently with an eye on India.

Yeah whatever . The news is from a SL source but it seems you know better. Anyways I don't understand why Indian is spending money on SL when Sri Lankans don't seem to care about India.

- India arms, trains and funds the LTTE resulting in massive death and destruction in the island that lasted for more than 20 years. The LTTE was used as a tool to maintain influence over the island.

- India refused to have a full defence relationship with Sri Lanka and continues to do so. Quite ready to pump money into a terrorist organisation but finds it difficult to difficult to have a full defence relationship with a democratically elected government.

- India served as site for arms smuggling into Sri Lanka. It continues to serves as site for drug smuggling into Sri Lanka (with absolutely no action by Indian authorities)

- Indian politicians supported and continue to support separatism and violence in Sri Lanka. Latest conference supporting separatism in India held this week in India. The organiser is part of the current Indian government.

- India votes against Sri Lanka at the United Nations (the only Asian nation to do so), joining European countries and the USA.

- Sri Lankan pilgrims are attacked in India.

- Sri Lankan film directors are attacked in India

- Sri Lankan places of worship are attacked in India

- Sri Lankan flag is burnt in India

- Indian fishermen continue to repeatedly and brazenly poach in Sri Lankan waters (and smuggle drugs into the island). Their activities are openly supported by Indian politicians. Pressure is exerted by the Indian government to release these folks who are essentially thieves.

- Sri Lanka is demonised for being on friendly terms with China and accepting Chinese investment. Apparently Sri Lanka should hold back on its development in order to satisfy the Indians.

sorry to say, "impressive progress" is totally misleading the people. Only project India completed is a railway line project in southern areas but it's not successful project.

50,000 housing project also a totally misleading, India isn't building 50,000 newly homes here. They have finished 200 only for last two years, haven't given to any civilian yet. Another misleading thing is they are mentioning about Eastern province here but as far as I know there are extra newly built homes which we built after Tsunami in the eastern province, and also in southern province.

Only project that they are involved in is railway project, all other road development project is done by China.

Sampur Coal power plant hasn't started yet due to environment issues....

Almighty Allah have given u 2 eyes (I hope), why don't u use them.

He noted that the pilot phase of the project for construction of 1000 houses has been completed and the two governments have signed the agreements last month for the next phase of constructing 43,000 housing units under the owner-driven mode in the Northern and Eastern Provinces. The work has been awarded to four Implementing Agencies, he added.

1.) It is not saying all the 50,000 houses are already build, it is saying that the pilot project to built 1000 houses is completed.

So it exposes ur lie of only 200 houses.

2.) Further It says, that the 2 govts have signed the agreement last month to build the 43,000 housing units in next phase.

Don't make spoon feeding a habit

Sri Lanka did not "support Pakistan" - it adopted a neutral stance. Like Switzerland, when wars were raging around it.

If India wanted to refuel planes or ships in Sri Lanka, it could have. It chose not to.

Pakistan chose to do so.

Sri Lanka was one of the founding members of the non-aligned movement as well.

sorry mate, I'm not writing this to insult India, Sri Lankans think different. Some of things I can't write on PDF, it's just like that. We don't reject any race or country when we talk directly, may be only in forums. Simple answer is Sri Lankans do not trust India, It's just like that. Sorry about it!
