India fully stops import of Iran oil

Steer Iran away from crude oil income dependence. Irans tax revenue already exceeded oil exports at the peak of times. Iran uses most of its oil domestically.

and Iranian politicians and oil ministers have confidently vowed to sell more then enough oil on the "grey market". so I wouldn't be surprised if China and Iran have some sort of back door transactions going on. not that Iran needs it.
oil export for Iran is just bonus revenue at this point. the US can hurt Iranian revenue somewhat. but it will never come close to breaking Iran. it only makes Iran stronger long term

They are more worried why self declared superpower China succumbed to US pressure and stopped all oil imports.

Bizzarely, this will lead to increase in Iranian oil in Pakistan. As pressure mounts on Iran they will begin to flog oil at knock down prices which will boost smuggling across Iran/Pak border.

Smuggling can never replace formal supplies.
Even if a 1000 trucks with 5000L capacity are used daily only 50,000 BPD will be reached whereas India used to import 350000 at peak and China 650000.

Good on India. We remember when these farsis reneged on the agreement to sell oil in ₹ after the treaty was signed. The duplicitous nature of these farsis wasn’t forgot by South Block. Why should we expose ourselves to US sanctions when the Arabian Gulf farsis can’t be trusted to honour signed agreements?
