India Expresses Willingness to Build LNG Terminal at Chittagong, Bangladesh

Well you involved Reliance power at first place which I mistook for power station set up as they have been selected for that. Anyway for LNG terminal, Petronet LNG( Indian govt's company) can do the job. Other private players like Adani too can.

The Power Cell of BD Energy Deptt. has only been requested by Reliance for the construction and not that the PC has agreed to it. PC has no power to arbitrarily select a Contractor without first not selecting the Consultant and then without calling tender from the short-listed Companies for the construction job.

But, as far as I know, a process of Expression of Interest (EoJ) for a Consultant, who would do only a limited job of selecting the jetty site and tank yard or de-liquefaction yard etc..The date of EoI for consultant is over on 18 May, 2016.

Under the circumstances it is unwise to think PC has given the contract to an Indian Company who has no prior experience in the LNG field.

We are exploring oil and gas for decades now, we are also in SCS :P We have the world's largest refinery in Gujrat, and India is the fifth largest oil refiner in the world, you are mistaking India for Bangladesh. :)
.

A few words. Refinery plants are quite different from an LNG project, whereby the gas is liquefied at the source by cooling it at -160 degree C and the liquid is entered into the football like very large tanks. This liquid is transported on a tanker ship to the importing country`s LNG Terminal. The liquid LNG is transported through a pipeline the temperature in which must be -260 C. Lng goes again to the same football tanks on/above ground where also the temperature must be retained at -260 C.

There are many other hurdles that must be overtaken by the Main Contractor. So, no hard feeling, but I can say this job is not for Reliance, Then, off course, it can tie up with a Japanese or US Company and do the job.

A few words. Refinery plants are quite different from an LNG project, whereby the gas is liquefied at the source by cooling it at -126 degree C and the liquid is entered into the football like very large tanks. This liquid is transported on a tanker ship to the importing country`s LNG Terminal. The liquid LNG is transported through a pipeline the temperature in which must be -216C. Lng goes again to the same football tanks on/above ground where the temperature must be retained at -216C.

Reliance power has won an in-principle approval of BD govt for the same with 2 MMTPA LNG terminal. I think this holds more values than someone's random views and wishes. No hard feelings.

PS: Sir, you are to build your first LNG terminal with capacity of 2 MMTPA while as of now we are operating many LNG terminals with total capacity of 25+ MMTPA and more under construction with 30+ MMTPA so we know the 'complexities' and 'hurdles' you are talking about with LNG terminals.

Yeah, oil and natural gas, we have more than enough expertise on that.

The moment i decide not to troll Bangladeshis anymore, they give me further reasons to troll them. :tsk:

The news is a fabrication until a reliable source says so. By the way, I have checked the list of all the LNG terminals of the world. India`s and BD`s names are not there even in the proposed projects. I think, someone gave you wrong information. No Indian company has any experience or expertise in an LNG Terminal project.

By the way, what is this unit MMTPA? An uncommon unit must be elaborated/clarified before printing in short form. But, you forgot to do it. .

Seems your list is highly outdated. Get a fresh one. BTW here are few Indian LNG terminals.
Hazira LNG terminal(10 MMTPA capacity, being expanded to 15 MMTPA).

Kochi LNG terminal.

PS: MMTPA is million metric ton per annum.

New Delhi is willing to build an LNG terminal at Chittagong, Bangladesh which will be used to supply gas to state in the north-eastern part of India.

Dhaka will discuss the matter before taking a final decision, Energy Bangla reported.

The issue was raised during a meeting of Bangladeshi and India officials in New Delhi. A delegation led by Bangladesh’s energy and resources division secretary Md Nazimuddin met with Indian officials.

Bangladesh is interested in importing gas from north east Indian state of Tripura via a pipeline. However, New Delhi is not interested in such a plan. Instead, India wants to export electricity from Tripura that is produced at a gas based plant, Energy Bangla reported.

Sorry to say, after reading closely I have found that the project is another one, not the Moheshkhali one, that India wants to build in Ctg. Of course, India may do whatever it wants, LNG or CNG. But, BD has the final say over it because our land will be used. So, Indians, why there was no saying of price tag in the news and why it is needed by India is also not clear.

We have to justify why our people need LNG to the likes of Bangladesh which owes its political existence to India. Yeah ok ...try again.
