It's not one-way but business as usual infect India is the major beneficiary of sanctions on Iran. She is buying oil on their own terms. Now India has forced Iran to accept 45% or payment in INR, in other words she has forced Iran to buy Indian Products in return and also enjoying cheap price and relaxed credit terms. You will see surge in Indian export to Iran because no other country will be accepting INR for their products/services.

So you want India to pay in US$'s but none of the clearing houses are willing to do that for India.

India is giving INR so that Iran can use that to buy Indian products.It definitely helps India but it also helps Iran....How many of Iran's neighbours are willing to buy oil from Iran and export food items dodging the pressure from US and EU.

Instead of arguing what India is doing shouldn't your country take the lead because you are the next door neighbours.Why not buy oil and gas from them and use barter system to export agricultural products.

PS - Maybe you can ask some Chinese why they are paying for Iranian oil in Yuan ?

1. When Indian can manage 55% payment in $ than surely they can manage 100% if she want's.
2. Pakistan is not in position to buy oil because we our economy is not that much strong at the moment - infect struggling. We don't have refineries which can refine Iranian crude oil and there are various other factors which are holding back Pakistan.
3. China is also getting benefit as i told earlier it's business as usual - The thing is China is manufacturing almost everything and have lot more to offer than India, Many Iranian firms are using China channel now to import western products, so it's not that Iranian are forced to buy just Chinese products. China have currency swap agreements with other countries so yuan is acceptable to those countries.

Total bilateral trade in 2011-12 was $ 15.9 billion, of which imports to India was $ 13.5 billion and exports from India around $ 2.5 billion.

Surely it's not viable but there is not other way and that's why there is huge surge in prices with latest round of sanctions. India can't do that - only China or Russia are the countries at the moment who can afford this.

and yeah - back to topic, It's not significant news as it was expected that Iran will increase it's trade with India & China to utilize non-dollar payments.
