India Does Not Need Boots on Afghan Ground

.
No I do not understand nor speak Pashto or Dari.

Why do you ask?

Curious -- on the same note do you have Afghan friends, classmates -- for example In Canada (if you were during the 2005 earthquake or subsequent floods) did you see any fund raising activity by Afghans at Mosques or their business for relief?

What or how Afghans see Pakistanis as is irrelevant.

The amount of damage done to Pakistan by Afghani people and government will take generations for Pakistan to repair.

Pakistanis have to move away from the Muslim "Ummah". The Muslim "Ummah" is dead as shown in Iraq, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, Lebanon, Qatar, and many other Muslims areas.

Pakistan may derive it's identity as "Muslim" or "Islamic" but it needs to move on to the next phase into a nationalistic identity regardless of religion.

Pakistan has a nationalistic identity.
In today's age Muslims are divided into separate nation states.

This notion that India should / would send soldiers to Afghanistan is a pakistani military concoction to keep justifying their own involvement through Taliban there. While Afghan violence is bad, we are lucky to have pakistan as strategic depth against that instability. The buffer state of Pakistan protects us and we are happy with this arrangement. Pakistani heartburn is just bonus. If Pakistani generals had any diplomatic skill they would not have played such a risky game in Afghanistan in the first place.

Dollars and weapons over risk assessment. There is a reason "military intelligence" is consideres an oxymoron :)

. .
They wouldn't because their army will start wet their pants once they face 1 or 2 suicide attack but they have to if they say they are afghans friend and all that crap. Otherwise, everything will be just like their Air corridor.

.
Afghans don't need or want Indian boots on the ground, heck we dont need or want any foreign troops but the war was imposed on Afghanistan and it had no choice but to make the best of a bad situation. There are certain groups who benifit from perpetual war and want to involve more players for their own gain and this fifth column needs to be dealt with by Afghans.

Our identity will remain islamic or muslim.

Just because if we wish peace with our neighbors does not mean we have some ummah fetish.

It is in our best interest to have a peaceful stable Afghanistan and Iran and India.

The only ummah we know are the 200 million residents of Pakistan.

Rest is business or war booty.

Excellent oped by Ajai Shukla, a retired Indian Army colonel on NYT here

More on the confusion that Pakistanis have that the Taliban somehow like Pakistan or are pro-Pakistan. All Afghans hate Pakistan, the rich, the old, the young, men, women, taliban, ex-communists. It is surprising that such confusion persists even on a forum such as this where I imagine the more educated Pakistanis coalesce (English speaking, interested in strategic affair affairs) -- I wonder how ignorant is the common Pakistani is?

-------

The Taliban field commanders and fighters I have met, who many assume would be hostile to India owing to the support they receive from Pakistan, display the same disdain for Pakistan and affection for India as the average Afghan. One senior Taliban official reproached me for India’s failure in 1979 to condemn the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan. But he returned quickly to criticizing the domineering control of “Punjabis,” as Afghans disparagingly call Pakistanis.
So. U r taking word.of an Indian liar against Pak if Indian knew Afghnistan so well they would have come and solve war by now for u wouldn't they ;)

Hey man ... perhaps we live in different universes

Dude could you point me where I can find these -- I'll make sure they get listed in the directory of Pro-Pakistani Afghans.

We've been searching for new candidates for a few years without any success

India should definitely send at least 10,000 troops khushboo laga ke, otherwise the ISI will continue to cause night terrors and bedwetting episodes on both sides of Pakistan's border.

On a serious note though, no amount of foreign troops are going to secure Afghanistan, NATO/ISAF and the US couldn't do it with all their might. All foreign presence is delaying the inevitable endgame, which is either a political settlement or another civil war before that. Indians are too smart to commit that much and send troops, they're serving their interests without that already.

India will never put boots on Afghan soil ever
For that army need to have some gutts and free from inner conflicts
Indians army is afraid of fighting and army who can't provide their soldiers best food can't take any risks of deploying in unknown

How do you know this gentleman is a liar?

My dear countless interviews of Afghan Taliban -- including ex Taliban who are still sympathetic to the cause openly express their disdain for Pakistanis.

I have not once come across a single interview that shows some sympathetic treatment of Pakistanis.

South Korea 24% ???

Many it's not that bad to be hated after all -- look everyone hates the US, Turkey and Israel

Could popularity be over rated?
