Duronto Express​

•For the first time in the history of India Railways, non-stop train service is being introduced in India.

•Will have AC and non-AC sleepers and will run between select cities throughout the country.

•12 trains are supposed to be started by end of this year.

•Chennai-Delhi Non Stop (Bi-weekly), Delhi-Pune (AC) Non Stop (Bi-weekly), Howarh-Delhi Non Stop (Bi-weekly), Howrah-Mumbai (AC) Non stop (Bi-weekly) has alredy been started.

•This train is already giving Rajdhani (India’s premier train) a run for its money.

Delhi Metro Old and New

Another first for DMRC
The city Metro has earned a maximum revenue of Rs 1.64 crore on a single day, thanks to hike in the fare and the newly launched Noida corridor which has made thousands of passengers bid adieu to crowded buses and opt the new age transport system. Metro earned Rs 1.64 crore yesterday, a day after the fare hike came into effect and the much-awaited Noida line was opened to the public, with over 9.5 lakh people travelling on it. This is the highest earning so far since the Metro became operational on 25th December 2002, a DMRC spokesman said.

The Yamuna Bank-Noida Sector 32 line, which has 10 stations, alone generated a revenue of Rs 19 lakh yesterday, he said. DMRC officials said more than one lakh people travelled on the Metro both on Friday and Saturday generating a revenue of Rs 18 and 19 lakh respectively.

ORR (Outer Ring Road), Hydrabad (Named as “Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited&#8221

•162 Km of 8 lanes Express Way

•To be completed in 2 phase. Phase – I to be of 22km length at a cost of Rs. 500 Crore. Phase – II will be of length 140 Km at a cost of Rs. 2500 Crore.

•Phase – I is complete. Phase – II is expected to be complete by 2010

The importance of the proposed corridor being

•Relieves congestion on metropolitan area and inner ring road and meets the future demand.

•Provides orbital linkage to radial arterial roads

•Creates options for development of the further satellite townships

•Provides linkage to the proposed MRTS and Bus system

•Provides quick access to the International Airport from Strategic parts of the city

•Connects various new urban nodes outside the city like Hi- Tech city , Games village, IIIT, ISB, Hardware Park, Singapore Township Financial district etc.,
