India dethrones China as world's largest arms importer

Congratulations to India for achieving this milestone. It is the only sector where India is ranked top and surpassing China. Moreover China could never challenge this mightly and glorious positon held by India given that China is currently under arms embargo. It is expected that India will hold this position for the forthcoming one thousand years as it is buying whatever weapons the US war criminals miltaro industry, Israel and the EU are producing.

isnt Israel is the largest exporter to of arms? Or is it still Russia?

Good point. In 1863, US was world's largest importer. In 1942, Russia was the world's largest importer. Who cares??

Don't forget your past....You guys always trying to satisfy your ego by criticizing India....You guys can't get weapons without any free loans and free Aid's you guys still mocking on India..Whatever we are free to shop anything we want but you guyz can't.... Do you know how much we are spending on education, health and development it is several times more than our defence budget

sigh but India still BEATS Pakistan and holds the title "World's largest Importer".

India beats Pakistan by long and wide margins in many other fields too. Ever care to bother about peace, prosperity, democracy and rule of the law, technological and scientific progress...etc? Anywho, being the world's largest arms importer is something we Indians earned!!

So frankly dear, we give a damn....

We are also targeting fastest growing economy.. Sooner or later, we will get there too ;)

Why India May Never Catch Up To China
NY Times' Jim Yardley: Why India May Never Catch Up To China

New York Times reporter Jim Yardley covered China for about six years before moving to India two years ago.

He has explored both of these economic goliaths through and through, and has an interesting take on their very different economic paths:

China's state-dominated economy is quick to answer global market demands building the necessary infrastructure and providing an endless supply of skilled workers. However, its tight grip on the business sector has led to controversies about its labor and environmental practices among other issues.

India, on the other hand, has been a democracy all along with a thriving private sector. But its lagging government has been chaotic and slow to address its lack of proper infrastructure.

Watch below our interview with Yardley, who just published a new book 'Brave Dragons' about the rise of basketball in China.

He explains how the two states got to where they are economically and what lies ahead. Yardley also talks about Apple's controversial gadget-producer Foxconn, and why India will not be a leader in electronics manufacturing any time soon.
