It is extremely unlikely that a missile launched from India will drift so much so that it will land in Pakistan, that too with such great deviation.
I think this was done to get critical information from Pakistan. The only credible response from Pakistan should have been to take down this missile at the border areas or atleast before the missile hit the ground.
I don't get it, why only track the missile without interception even after it crossed the border, it was a security threat after that point.

After reading their foreign office statement i feel like their system was hacked by someone els to start a war with Pakistan. Likely that our hq9 is not operational.Though both india and Pakistan got their new AD systems up a few months back it takes time to transition from training to be expert enough to diligently follow SOPs.. india itself would have missed if Pakistan had sent a missile acrosss..but unlike india we would have been in news and been egged left and and right. They told the place where it was launched and they were tracking it from its very launch (not from the cannister of course but when it had reached certain altitude .. Just like India does not have ABM/Air Defence cover over all of India or even all of the IB with Pakistan, neither does Pakistan deploy AD missile batteries across all sectors.

The deterrence on both sides is not some comprehensive air defense system, rather the ability of both sides to respond tit for tat. My own take is that if India does not come clean on this issue, Pakistan will take some responsive measures as well.
