Yes, Nothing is wrong.

I again say same thing: 75% Muslims countries like Syria, Libya, and many other countries are not good and Their People are sad. Check the facts or do Google search if you are not in China. I replied only about those countries who did wrong to their own people. Everyone will say same thing including Muslims of those countries. Even, I add now more Muslim countries are not taking certain opinions on Xinjiang.

84 Sri Lankan pilgrims had come under attack in Chennai yesterday by goons describing themselves as ‘black tigers,’ family members of the Sri Lankans said.

The Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission in Chennai had transferred the pilgrims to a hotel in a safe area.

Three of the 84 had been injured.

A relative of one of the victims told Daily Mirror that a team from the Deputy High Commission had transferred the pilgrims to another hotel to ensure their safety. According to this relative the attackers had ordered the staff of the former hotel to send the victims away before 8.00 am today.

Chandrika, the wife of one of the victims, told Daily Mirror that the Sri Lankan pilgrims had come under attack while they were shopping. Her husband had told her that the attackers had been staging a protest against Sri Lanka as they passed by.

The protesters had recognised the pilgrims as Sri Lankans and gone up and assaulted them and grabbed their bags and set fire to them.

The Deputy High Commission had assured the victims that they would be sent back to Sri Lanka safely on Friday. The victims who are from Elpitiya had left for India on July 17 on a pilgrimage to Bodhgaya and were scheduled to return on August 5.

It is an unfortunate incident. Sri Lanka had seen enough of blood shed. Let past be past... Treat Tamils as equals and afterall they are your country men!

India started supporting LTTE after SL allowed Pak Navy to refill their Warships in 1971 war... Such a thing should never happen in future. Let SL become Singapore of south asia.

And India-SL should find a working solution which prevents the harassment of Rameshwaram fishermen.

Lankans attacked, shirts burnt

In another attack on Sri Lankan nationals in the city, three men from the island nation were allegedly assaulted by members of a pro-Tamil group, their T-shirts ripped off and burnt in Perambur late Wednesday night.

The police arrested three members of the Naam Tamzhilar movement, Raj Kumar, 40, an area secretary of Naam Tamzhilar at New Washermenpet, Mahendran, 25, and Karthikeyan, 38, of Vysarpadi, in connection with the incident.

“The accused threatened the three Sri Lankan pilgrims who were shopping at Perambur when they saw writing in Sinhala printed on their T-shirts,” a police officer said. “They made them remove their T-shirts and set them on fire.”

“Eighty-four pilgrims from Elpitiya in Sri Lanka’s Galle district had come to India on July 17 on a pilgrimage to Bodh Gaya and were scheduled to return to Sri Lanka on Friday.

After visiting Kasi and Rameshwaram, the pilgrims returned to the Sri Lanka Maha Bodhi Centre building on Keneth Lane in Egmore where they were staying.

Since the rooms were full, they were put up in a lodge in Perambur,” said a monk at the society. He said the pilgrims would be sent back home safely on Friday.

“It is humiliating to be treated like this in India. We dreamt of going back with good memories but unfortunately this incident has put paid to that,” a pilgrim said.

Mahanama Thero, a senior monk at the Maha Bodhi Centre, told Deccan Chronicle, “The Sri Lankan deputy high commissioner in Chennai, Vadivel Krishnamoorthy, has assured the pilgrims that they would be sent back to Sri Lanka safely.”

An attack on the Maha Bodhi Centre on January 24, 2011, left several people injured.

‘Nam Tamilar’ group behind harassment?

Sri Lankan pilgrims who came under attack by some Pro LTTE elements in Chennai yesterday alleged that they were harassed by members of a group called ‘Nam Tamilar (We are Tamils) which is allegedly backed by some politicians in Tamil Nadu.

These members who came under attack retuned to the island yesterday morning.

One of the victims Sunil Kukulegama told the Daily Mirror that they got to know from reliable sources that these goons who attacked them were from the said group allegedly backed by the State Assembly members.

Relating their ordeal Mr. Kukulegama said they just returned to Chennai after engaging in religious observances in Buddha Gaya when the attackers approached them.

Central Govt. seeks serious probe from TN

The Central Government of India had asked the Tamil Nadu state government to take up the incident, in which some Sri Lankan nationals were threatened by a gang in Chennai, with due seriousness and bring the perpetrators to book, informed sources said yesterday.

A group of 84 Sri Lankan pilgrims were threatened by some persons at the hotel they were staying in. Later, these gang members had apparently used threatening language and asked the hotel employees not to provide accommodation to them. Subsequently, with the intervention of Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai,

these Sri Lankans had been transferred to the Mahabodhi Pilgrims Rest.

The Sri Lankan government took up the matter with the High Commission of India in Colombo after the incident. Accordingly, the Central Government of India had instructed the state government in Tamil Nadu to look into the matter seriously particularly because this was a case involving foreign nationals.

Also, the High Commission of India had briefed Sri Lanka's External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris and the Foreign Secretary about action taken in this regard. According to [/B]informed sources, three persons involved in the threatening incident had been arrested on Thursday by the Chennai police.

These Sri Lankans left for India on July 17, 2011 on a pilgrimage. They were scheduled to return to the country yesterday. According to family members of these pilgrims, the members of the gang who identified themselves as 'black tigers' had snatched away their bags and set them on fire.

It is learnt that these arrested members of the gang belong to a political party of Tamil film director Senthamilan Seeman. His political party is called 'We Tamil Movement'.
