What's new

India brings no cheer to garment exporters

that's why 90% of germans wear bangladesh RMG product... are you saying germans are poorer than indians?

i dont understand why indians got headache in matters regarding bangladesh? be it good or bad? they should learn to mind their own fucking business.

A successful BD would call into question
the idea of why there is even an aberration
called India.

This coming from a Tamil who are one of the ugliest ethnics on the face of the planet!

Enjoy feeling crap everytime you look in a mirror.

Hehe. So I am ugly. I am proud to be black and ugly than some wannabe's white and face-cream-users. I wont be offended by such posts, trust me :D

Currently there is complete ban on import of 25 items from India including Textiles & all types of clothing. This list is growing with time & more items will ne banned to local industrial capacity expands.

You have no idea on the matter of RMG sector in Bangladesh. Please do your research before talking nonsense.

Bangladeshi RMG sector is evolving with time & it's very much vibrant. Many Green factories are in operation & many are getting built. And more investment on Green RMG factories are in pipeline. Actually last year seven BD RMG factories made it into the world top ten list of Green RMG factories. So please don't talk about something you don't know.

And no when it comes to RMG & being a LDC it's not BD which is crying & whining. Supopawa India is crying & whining to EU for decades to get equal tax exemption & quota equal to a LDC BD. Now go cry more.

Even without tax benefits our textile sector exports have reached 20B. And rising. And when level playing field is provided to our products when you guys lose LDC, we will eat onto your share.
Majority of our cluster factories are green. Having a few doesnt change the problems BD industry face. Change with the times or perish. BD needs to adopt new technologies and now.

Bangladeshi RMG also don't get unilateral tax exemption or quota in every market. In US market we don't have none of those facilities, but still our exports increased in that market.

And number of eco friendly factories aren't exactly "few". Do your research.

Also under supervision of Accord & Alliance, ILO & Bangladesh government, non -Green factories are also addressing the environmental, productivity, safety & labor rights issues.

And also our export to Chinese market is growing in double digits. And the facilities we get in that market isn't going to flee anywhere.

So you see we are here to stay for a long time.

@Bilal9 bhai, what do you think in this matter? Your valuable input wil be appreciated.

If BD industry is reforming then good for them. You are just corresponding my point that if BD does not update itself wrt to tech it may not perform well.

http://www.thedailystar.net/business/bangladesh-the-path-gsp-plus-eu-1315237

As a least-developed country Bangladesh has been enjoying zero-duty benefit to the EU under its Everything but Arms scheme since 1971. But once it becomes a developing country, Bangladesh will no longer be eligible for the privilege.

The GSP Plus scheme will be applicable for Bangladesh then, for which the country will have to fulfil some conditions. Strengthening workplace safety, improved labour rights, saving the environment and reduction of corruption are some of the major conditions for receiving the GSP Plus status from the EU, where 60 percent of Bangladesh's garment prod.

“We are well ahead in comparison to many other countries in fulfilling the conditions for GSP Plus,” said Siddiqur Rahman, president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association.

EU is currently taking stock of the industries making garments for its country in EU and certifying them for GSP Plus. And 60% of its exports is to EU alone. Making it like 20B$ out of our total export of some 35B. Which means in few years BD will competing with likes of India/Viets in EU market. All the best.

@Nilgiri
You are talking about traditional ethnic garments that Bangladeshis buy in Kolkata. We are discussing garments meant for export to first world and other markets.

Bhai trying to present evidence of our green garments revolution to Indians who want us to fail as a country is pointless. There's no use.

Indian garments manufacturers' efficiency and organization, much less eco-facilitation levels are far below Bangladeshi levels.

Avg. Indian garments sweatshop has 120 workers. Ours have 600 people set up in Japanese/Korean/Taiwanese standard which is unthinkable in India.

Because of Rana plaza, our safety and facility organization, effluent discharge, energy consumption levels have risen to Euro conformance levels which is far above these informal Indian sweatshops. There is no comparison.

Here is an older article,

http://asiafoundation.org/2016/04/20/can-bangladeshs-ready-made-garment-industry-lead-green-growth/

Here's a couple of new ones,

http://www.dhakatribune.com/busines...reen-revolution-bangladeshi-apparel-industry/

https://www.fashionatingworld.com/n...p-25-most-eco-friendly-factories-in-the-world

The top three LEED CERTIFIED environment-friendly garment and textile factories in the world are located in Bangladesh. Bangladesh leads the world in eco-friendly manufacturing. Enough said....:coffee:
