New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that India as a democracy does not believe in attacking other countries and does whatever it needs to do “as an act of self-defence”.

Speaking on the eve of India’s 74th Independence Day, he said, “If enemy country attacks us, then we will give a befitting reply like every time. Whatever we do in the realm of national security, we always do it for self-defence and not to attack others.”

He said that India believes in “winning hearts, not land”, training his arrows at China in the backdrop of the recent flare-up along the Line of Actual Control.

“India believes in winning hearts, not land. But, that does not mean we will let our self-esteem be hurt by anyone. History is witness to the fact that India never attacked anyone or tried to capture land of another country,” Singh told the armed forces.

The Defence Minister said that the central government would do anything in its capacity to ensure sovereignty and maintain operational requirement in times of distress.

“I assure you that the government is doing all that is required to maintain your operational requirement,” Singh told the forces.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs today said that “early and complete disengagement of troops and full restoration of peace and tranquility is essential for bilateral ties” between India and China.

“Both sides have broad agreement on disengagement and based on it some progress made earlier. Translating principles of broad agreement on disengagement of troops on ground is a complex process,” the MEA said.

‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’
Singh on Thursday launched the Konkurs Missile Test Equipment and Konkurs Launcher Test Equipment that have been indigenously designed and developed by the Bharat Dynamics Ltd, which were earlier getting imported from Russia.

The products were launched as part of the Centre’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ week plans from August 7-14.

The Konkurs Missile Test Equipment is being designed to check the serviceability of Konkurs – M Anti-Tank Guided Missiles. The Konkurs Launcher Test Equipment is being developed to check the serviceability of Konkurs – M Missile Launchers.

Maybe the best option for China is to carry on Slamy Slicing and not fire a bullet.
“India believes in winning hearts, not land.
The whole artificial state of India is built on land grab from the princely states.

Wah! That's some walk-down from wanting to attack GB, AJK and Aksai Chin in the national assembly. I mean just up until last year, they were all willing to take it all over. What happened? =)
