India becomes world's 7th MOST VALUED 'Nation Brand'

Also @Atanz had a recent thread crediting TATA steel presence in UK. He is not a total brick wall :P.

We do not need to resort to over-glorification to counter the rabidly anti-India crowd. It makes us seem a bit desperate and weak like we want their approval or enjoy rubbing it in their faces....knowing they wont change anyway (or at least their internet personas wont).

@Atanz All your certificates about India's Poverty are meaningless

Pakistan is at the 54 th position ; India at 7 th

Why tag people like Atanz and Viper0011 in a positive thread like this ? They have enough JPG and JFEG pictures showing an Indian man pulling a rickshaw to show our poverty and backwardness. Why not discuss it amongst us ? And why are we even comparing our Economic parameters with Pakistan. Are they some sort of benchmark for us. Even if we have 4 times the nominal per capita income of our Western neighbor , we would still be a poor country.

Coming back to the topic even though these ranking indeed show some paltry improvement in our Business and Brand value but in reality these rankings don't matter much. Rankings based on Nominal GPD , Per capita income, Bilateral trade, Industrial productivity etc. are things which really matter. Anyway one has to give Modi ji credited for initiating a positive change in our economic policies and lets hope Congress, CPIM , TMC , AAP and other like minded parties don't act like Trojan horses and paralyzes this positive start.

Also nice to see that Iran is the most improved with brand value growth of 59% over one year.

@SOHEIL

Also Pakistan did well, brand value growth of 29%. They are not stagnating.

@Viper0011. You always claim that by 2020 Pakistan will be India's equal

Here we go. Do you people ever speak the truth about anything???? I don't write bullshiit, nor do I "make up" numbers like the Indians do about their FDI and all.

Show me ONE statement where I said by 2020, Pakistan will be India's equal. Pakistan's economy will start to take off full afterburners by 2018, which means the real growth will start by then, aka, the beginning of a journey towards the top 15th economy.

Comparing a country of 1.2 billion people and 5 times the size to Pakistan is nothing but utter stupidity. Compare yourself with an equal sized foe, aka, the Chinese. China's left you far behind in the dust.

Pakistan can never match India due to her 5 times smaller size and her population also 5 times lesser than India's.

Pakistan will become a top 15th economy between 2025-2030. There is no doubt about it. If the political system in Pakistan remains stable, and the people keep supporting the pro-democratic powers (like they did in yesterday's elections), Pakistan has a total opportunity to one day compete with Australia head-on, for the number 10th spot.

In fact, common math will tell you, just like China and India, based on their population, will remain top 1st and 2nd economies, Pakistan is the 6th largest country population wise. She can get to top 8th or 7th spot over the next 30 years (almost the same amount of time it took India and China's economies to get to where they are today).

Next time, don't associate bullshiit with my posts. Unlike you people getting emotional on one report, I do plenty of research on a topic before opening up my mouth to make a statement!!

"Brand Finance said it measures the strength and value of the nation brands of 100 leading countries using a method based on the royalty relief mechanism employed to value the world's largest companies.

The nation brand valuation is based on five year forecasts of sales of all brands in each nation and follows a complex process. The Gross domestic product (GDP) is used as a proxy for total revenues."

The devil lies in the details of how this ranking is calculated.

I had my doubts when i noticed GDP ranking of nations mirrors this index
