HAL yes (and it is underway) but not DRDO- the DRDO need to remain 100% under GoI control. And many don't seem to understand the DRDO doesn't produce anything itself- it is purely a R&D organisation, the production issues are caused by DPSU and these need to be improved and more outsourced to the private players. The DRDO on its part is producing some truly exceptionally results these days and now a period of sustained high investment is going to produce even more results in the coming years.

Correct regarding the drdo however the thing to change is

Increasing the salary or performance package based on the individual merit.
Right now they cannot get more than a joint secretary which is bullshit,,,research needs best talent ans best talent will come wih money.

Wow if they wr in China by now they could have marketed internationally by chines govt. Our Govt must also promote these indian based companies weapons . And need to lobby for sales with other countries . So the improvements will made and upstaged version will serve Indian Army needs in the future

You do realize that howitzers are meant to operate from safe zones, far away from enemy positions??
