A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Minister of Internal Affairs, Pulat Bobojonov, met the Indian delegation, led by Union Minister for Home Affairs, Amit Shah, in New Delhi today. Bobojonov is on a bilateral visit to India from November 20-23, 2019.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest including bilateral counter-terrorism cooperation, capacity building and training for Uzbek security personnel in Indian institutions, border guarding and disaster management. Both sides affirmed that the visit of Prime Minister of India to Uzbekistan in 2015 and 2016 and visit by President of Uzbekistan to India in October 2018 and January 2019 have provided a new impetus to our relationship.

An Agreement on Security Cooperation between the Ministry of Home Affairs of India and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan was also signed by the two Ministers. Both Uzbekistan and Tajikistan firmly on indian side. Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are leaning. We need to work on our central asian policy beyond Afghanistan. We need military and defence agreements with Turkmenistan quickly.

My advice would be to focus on economic ties first. If economic relations are strong, defense and security cooperation will follow. Despite being in Central Asia's immediate neighborhood, Pakistan has very little economic influence in the CARS compared to India. Then again, India didn't get to where it is currently in Central Asia overnight.

Something else to consider is that the CARs are moving away from their traditional Russian dominance, but want a competitor to growing Chinese influence in the region.

Agree with u, but Pakistan have failed miserably in creating any economic relations. A few projects like TAPI gas pipeline were discussed but never materialized.
I guess it has alot to do with geopolitics. Russia considers CARs as its backyard. Due to the growing chinese influence in CARs, russia is encouraging india to invest and have relations to balance out growing chinese influence.
Also the USSR invasion history means we were never on good terms with most CARs so it was an open field for india.
In current situation, where even CARs are becoming somewhat independent, we can have strategic and economic depth if we establish good relations with Turkmenistan. I have travelled and know that Uzbeks and tajiks really hate Pakistan. Its waste of time to try n persuade them, even Kyrgyzstan is out of hand. Turkmenistan being ethnic turkmen have soft corner for Pakistan due to history. They also are growing relations with Turkey. This can be a God given opportunity for Pakistan.
If we manage to have good relationship with Turkmenistan and the Afghanistan issue is resolved with a pro Pakistan govt in Afghanistan, we will have direct access to the Caspian sea, azerbaijan, Turkey and beyond. We can link gawadar directly to the caspian sea. This will not only give us extreme strategic depth but also huge economic opportunities.

If something happens in Iran tomorrow you will start seeing the same CAR leaders land every week in Islamabad for new memos. All their trade goes through Iranian ports. They will be choked and airlifting stuff will make everything expensive for them.
They dont hate us.They are directed by Russia. They might dislike our attire (shalwar kameez) which makes us look poor and uneducated in their eyes or our beards and scarfs a slight more conservative nature than theirs but necessity prevails over such stuff, they would do business with you when their grand dady tells them to do so..
Buying S400 pays off in mysterious ways.
We had an exercise with Uzbeks earlier this year.

Its from USSR days, they were communist backed by USSR and Pakistan was backing afghan jihadis along with imperial america. Tajik and uzbeks also make up big numbers in Afghanistan and most of them are with northern alliance and anti taliban.

I have heard that many members of the AdghannArmy are ethnically Tajik

India's competitor in this domain in China. A small economy like Pakistan can do nothing about it. Just dropping the red pill. Pakistan and India should adapt China-Japan model and go ahead with economic cooperation.
