In a contest between a F-35 piloted by a rookie and a Mig-21 piloted by an ace, I'll put my money on the rookie..

Now, my friend, you're taking away the greatest advantages that technologically superior jets hold over their older counterparts, namely BVR combat and electronic warfare. If we have to compare something, then its rather prudent to take all parameters and all scenarios into account, not cherry-picking a few scenarios that suit our point of view.. Right?

The lightening will eventually obviously be a more capable aircraft, still got plenty teething troubles to take care off for now.

Still, if by some freak chance it finds itself in a dogfight scenario with a Mig-21, it looses, especially if being piloted by an ace compared to a rookie in the 35.

There are no Pakistani fighter pilots in the UAE F-16 and Mirage squadrons. They're only attached to the air college in Al Ain and some used to be at Minhad on the Hawk 100.
