No..its just a movie.
Name of that dam is Linganamakki. It was constructed in 1964 or 69.
Lingaa movie was dedicated to king of mysore.
He constructed many dams . chief designer and engineer was M.visvesvaraya.

Movie has nothing to do with dam.
But few incidents shown in movie were true.
Locals helping the engineers, British officers demanding bribe and not willing to co-operate etc.

That is not true it has varied climatic conditions.
Like we have 2nd coldest inhabited place in the world dras Ladakh - Drass, The second coldest inhabited place in the world
Or area which receives maximum rainfall Mawsynram - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Or largest glacier outside polar region Siachen Glacier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thar Desert , Tropical Climate of western Ghats and North East we have all the climatic condition in the world.
