In Silicon Valley, Cisco civil rights lawsuit could expose rampant caste prejudice against Dalits

Are you dumb ? the wire clearly shows that the lower caste employees was discriminated against by the racist Brhamin editor.
The fact that you think that CISCO should have hired a dalit to replace non dalits is the peak of racist behaviour. :agree:
1.please explain how did the wire discriminate against a dalit by hiring a brahmin editor? And who exactly was the dalit who was discriminated against?

2. Cisco has already hired both dalits and non dalits. The problem is the "non-dalit" employee that Cisco will be taking care of by the end of the investigation.

1. The very fact that Wire is dominated by Bhramins and is edited by a Brahmin shows open discrimination against dalits.

2. Are you now claiming the CISCO now practices caste system while giving promotions ? :cheesy:

So why were you so eager to voice his thoughts ?

Why do you want to know ?

Why do you want to know ?
1. An article written by a brahmin, voicing issues faced by dalits is a sign of racism? Very mature.
2. I called cisco racist? Your response clearly shows that you won the competition of having lower iq against a raisin.

Now go lynch some dalits otherwise your sanghi brothers will suspect that you have abandoned them

Why was that article not written by a Dalit ? :cheesy:

Why did that brahmin no allow that dalit to write this article ? Why was that dalit not given that job in wire ?

Why does the brahmins in wire want to take all the glory ?

Surely if CISCO promoted Brahmis and fired Dalits then it must be practicing the caste system  .... which also means US is a casteiest society now

Don't you have some underage hindu girls to "marry" and convert ? Or some temple in islamabad to demolish ?

Samir was once unable to hold back from expressing his views on caste at work. “At the time, I was a top performer at work. One day, a client mentioned the Indian caste system in a meeting. My upper caste boss tried to defend the caste system, saying it was actually good for India. I couldn’t control myself, and blurted out that while he may be upper caste, for us lower castes, the caste system was a curse.”
Which client randomly talks about the caste system in a meeting?
Samir says his appraisal was impacted by the revelation of his caste, his rating in the company slipped and he was transferred out of the US, to the company’s Indian office. “In a matter of minutes, everyone at work got to know my caste,” he says.
Wow, so this guy was just directly transferred from US to India just because of his views on the caste system. So easy, right?
One common way Indians is to figure a person’s caste out is by inviting them for Hindu religious worship sessions, such as the satyanarayan katha, at a temple. Raj declined such an invitation from a Brahmin colleague. “At the time he did not know my caste,” says Raj. He says the Brahmin then patted him on the back in a seemingly casual gesture, but one that he felt was actually meant to check whether he was wearing a janeu, a ‘sacred thread’ worn by the dwija castes. “Once he figured my caste out, he immediately stopped socialising with me. Dinner invitations stopped too.”
Lol really?
In the US, questions can be less direct. Four years ago, at a corporate lunch in New York, soon after receiving a high position at an MNC, Mohit was munching on chicken tandoori when an upper caste senior executive expressed surprise that he was not vegetarian. Vegetarianism, long associated with upper caste purity, is often used to figure a person’s caste out. Over time, Mohit has learned how best to answer such questions. “I said that I would eat anything that moved, but my parents were vegetarian.” In other words, he was suggesting that he was born into a Brahmin family. While this is untrue – he is a Dalit and his parents are not vegetarians – it’s a lie he repeats for the sake of his career.
There are plenty of Brahmins who eat non-veg. There are plenty of lower castes as well who eat non-veg lol. So how can he suddenly conclude that he is a Dalit lol?
“The way roll calls were structured while taking attendance in college immediately gave away a person’s caste,” he said.
And how are they structured? Could have helped to have more details.

While I don't doubt about the veracity of the original story, the later stories clearly look made-up for me. I wonder why it's only the Brahmins who target the lower castes in fabricated stories of Wire? Why not the kshatriyas/vaishyas?

@Soumitra, you still feel the Humanities should not be part of Indian technical education ?

@Gadkari ?
We had a subject called Value Education in primary school but I don't think it should just be restricted to primary school. It should be made a compulsory subject in secondary school and maybe even college as well.

Agreed.

More than "value" building, we need CHARACTER building.

Most Indians don't even know what that is.

Most Indians are too stuck up in ritualistic religion and regressive social mores. They should reject them especially knowing that such things don't harm other countries' people but Indians themselves.

For example, all youth between 13 and 30 of age should take up the task of educating their family elders about the apathy of the system to the hundreds of thousands of farmers who have committed suicide in India just between 1995 and 2015 only because of a stupid socio-economic system that should have been abolished in 1947, supposedly India's Independence year.

I would rather suggest young Indians to move out of their house and live independent lives so that they don't have to worry about "educating family elders".

Such "worries" only exist when you live as a parasite off the money of 'family elders".

Which is why character building is so important.

But moving out should have meant the presence of an entire new generation of enlightened youth in the new work cities like Bangalore, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Pune etc. That has not been the case. Feeding the 35+ million stray dogs, doing actually unrequired jobs, doing binge drinking and carrying the same regressive prejudices as their parents. This is why the comments on YouTube, Yahoo and Twitter as as poisonous as the offline voices of their parents.

I have a saying - "Money should be facility, not necessity". Money system as it exists now should cease to exist. No one should worship money. I have proposed a new economic system in this thread. This should be part of a proper welfare state.

You don't need "enlightenment" to move out, just BALLS.

Those who complain just lack those.

Money is not a necessity.

There are plenty of Fakir and Sadhu's who live without money. You are free to join them.

Naga Sadhu's for example.

I am not talking about just moving out, but about what they should do after moving out. Or even remain in their parents' home and complain. The first criteria for enlightenment should be these youth identifying the problems in society and complaining.

Wonderful. There are hundreds of millions in India who earn money as is the social norm here. Show me a Elon Musk or Bhagat Singh from among them.

And are you stating as fact that the Indian socio-economic system has not brought misery to so many ?
