Nevertheless, POTUS does have powers of its own (mandate of the Public including), and Trump have offered Afghan Taliban a fair chance in sorting out issues of Afghanistan and having a say in its future.

What else can you expect from an American President? At the end of the day, he is a representative of the American Public and pressures of the deep state also in the picture.

Taliban never agreed to ceasefire until the agreement with exit date was signed. They made that very clear at the start of the negotiations and throughout.

Trump and US Deep State were never going to agree to Taliban's terms of 'Get Out and we will implement Shariah'.
