In KP Oli Stepping Down As Nepal PM, India's Foreign Policy Seen Vindicated

Yes, he was anti India, but he has now mellowed. Now he is saying equidistant between India and China. For India it should not matter if he anti India or for India, he should do justice to Madeshis and should be cognizant of India's security. Oli was on mission to hurt India. Anyone will be better for India.

No Nepalese leader will accept indian hegemony any longer, neither will the people of Nepal

They will seek to balance their relationship with india by including China into the equation

Nepal cannot for the simple reason that most of China lives on east coast. The wild west of China has nothing and is empty terrain. It is almost impossible for China to help Nepal given the distance and treacherous terrain that is there between Nepal and China

No, China is not a factor. It has never been a factor. Oli brought China into the equation to rile India.

Oli bought China into the equation to rile india AND to try to reduce indian influence.

China is a necessary counterweight to India in Nepal

EVERY Nepalese leader hence forth will understand the value of China, even pro India leaders will understand China is a necessity

You let China, Pakistan and CPEC worry about that

How is Nepal related to CPEC?

Whomsoever comes in principally there are following challenges
  1. The Nepal earthquake victims as well as general people for second year in a row especially have to face adverse monsoons and another harsh winter in coming days. Without a house and a roof above their heads, the political turmoil with the game of egos overlooked this aspect and common people will have to face the wrath of rain gods for no reason.
  2. The earthquake payouts are on hold. The bureaucrats and political system is undecided whether they wish to make payments in one single payment or should they break it up. The victims don't have a house or the government relief payments, this uncertainty has created a much bigger unrest within them. They are now more inclined to support anyone who can give them whats their due and rebuild a normal Nepal and return their normal lives. There are some 52000 cases pending for such payouts for damages which are yet to be even assessed according to an estimate.
  3. Nepal has not passed its budget. This is one of the biggest challenge. So no one from the government machinery knows how to handle any kind of expenses and provisions ...
  4. Nepal has not made properly all diplomatic appointments. Their representatives to various nations is not there and thus relationship with multiple countries have come to a naught.
  5. There is a growing criticism that Former PM Oli since he was leaning to China and awarded many deals like piped gas and opened a new path for energy resources did all that for a short term goal. Most critics feel long term most of this is unsustainable and piped gas may be unfeasible
  6. Elections are to be held by Jan 2018 and the way the whole system works it has to be done from grassroot level and then step by step to provinces and local bodies. This whole process is unclear at the moment.
  7. Anti India sentiments fuelled by a section of media and by ExPM Oil when he accused India for creating issues have not helped. Indian ambassador is often accused for multiple things. On top our own Mainstream Media also relentlessly pursue and highlight the strains. madhesi episode also caused bad name for India. But now mending relationship is needed from both sides.
As you see multiple issues. We must now have a big heart and help them out.

Nascent democracy with constitution too new.. we should help them and guide them.better..

Look at people who are suffering a lot for fault of government. The earthquake has left them in shambles. It's time we do our part..

Nepal people , media and new government should also give up the Oli's way and style of working relationship with India. Being immediate neighbour they should also strive to make a more benefitting and close relation with India.

Time for a quick visit by PM NaMo or Sushma Ji to go and boost their Morales. See if we can do something for the people who are suffering.. may be offer them aadhar card system so that Nepal can also manage payouts without issues.

I was wondering in situations like this what if PM refuse to resign?

No confidence motion if PM loses constitutionally the government is dismissed and a fresh election is called or political party which may stake claim with requisite support proofs may be invited to form the next government followed by a floor test to prove what they claimed on paper..

Oli does not have any choice.. by resigning he saved face or else a minority government with no external support would have been dismissed and the whole thing would have been embarrassing for a sitting PM
