In KP Oli Stepping Down As Nepal PM, India's Foreign Policy Seen Vindicated

The future of western China and CPEC are interlinked

China has a massive population, it seeks to develop its western half, but Chinese commentators (on different forum) said it best the more open areas of western China has a few problems, China cant develop them until they have housing, industry, jobs, oil etc all supplied.

You cant ship in people if they dont have jobs/industry
Another major problem is that western China will directly be in competition with eastern China because shipping anything in and out of China means first going to China's eastern ports and then hauling across country or shipping them out, so it just adds that extra, cost, time, shipping.
This greatly stunts growth in western and even central china
Direct supply of oil, gas 8s another issue

CPEC is made in order to address all these things so Western China can develop at pace with a dedicated deep water port from which it can ship hugh volumes in and out of western China and add another oil/gas supply link.

One of the indian posters stated western, central china was underdeveloped and barren and couldn't help Nepal

CPEC will aid in developing those areas and a more developed western, central china can better support and help counter India in Nepal

. .
And I was happy about the two dedicated freight corridors being built in India!
Will be completed by 2019 & we don't know when will CPEC completd & additional 4 are being planned alredy.

AIK, Western China has easy access to oil & gas of Russia & CIS.
For export of China, US, Korea, Japan, India, Americas are major destinations not Pakistan or middle east & for export to Africa China will use Myanmar route before turbulent western route.
Nepal will have to depend on India & this dependency is going to increase day by day.
Do you know how much remittances are send to Nepal from India?
Well, remittances amount about 33% of GDP of Nepal & that is not correct as it is legal to take Indian Rupee notes in Nepal.
You can't count Nepalis working in India.

.
Too early to claim vindication! You never know what future holds for Nepal / India relationships! International relations & bilateral ties are not zero sum game anymore the way it was during Cold War era or prior to that! Fall of one regime doesn't mean it will take down with it the ties it has built with those who propped them up in the first place.

Thank you for your valuable time sir!!

@PARIKRAMA
Jst one more... Sorry to waste your time but PM could have declared emergency right??

No Sir, you are not wasting time..Its actually good you asked bcz even i will read more on such topics and learn new things.

On Topic,

PM of Nepal can recommend economic emergencies for example in case of last year energy crisis or when earthquake hit Nepal then a national emergency on humanitarian efforts. His powers are purely Recommendation and nothing beyond.

Previously Nepal had a monarchy where king could declare an emergency on recommendation of PM or under his own exceptional power. Under Federal Republic, President has been given the constitutional powers to declare emergency but criterion are defined.

The President may declare emergency in case a grave emergency arises linked to sovereignty or territorial integrity of Nepal or the security problem in any part of the country. Article 273 (1) states, “In case a grave emergency arises in relation to the sovereignty or territorial integrity of Nepal or the security of any part thereof, whether by war, external attack, armed revolt, extreme economic breakdown, natural calamity or epidemic outbreak, the President may, by Proclamation or Order, declare a state of emergency to be enforced in Nepal or any specified part thereof

I am quoting from ICWA article on "Nepal Salient Features of the new Constitution"
You can have a read here
http://www.icwa.in/pdfs/IB/2014/NEPALSALIENTFEATURESiib102015.pdf

In Short PM alone cannot declare emergency.
