What's new

In India 7 yrs in jail for eating beef; cops can raid on mere suspicion

send it to destinations like Goa, Kerla, etc where they serve the purpose.

I am not talking about eating beef vs not eating beef.

Here are two points in the Anti-cow slaughter bill proposed in Karnataka

1. You cannot sell your cows if they get old - they need to be sent to Goshala and the farmer will pay maintenance for those cows - So you cannot send it to Goa or Kerala

Imagine social security for cows paid by the poor farmer

2. A police officer can barge into your house and seize your goat meat and claim it is beef - the onus is not on him to prove that it is cow's meat - it is on you to prove it that it is not cow's meat.

For the bolded part, I do not think the INDIAN police system to that crooked, and its very easy to differnciate between Goat and Cow meat. After all I don't think this law is going to be effective, because when the POLICE have more theft, chain snatching, and murder case in their hand do you think they are going to go after the cow killers

So what about the first part where the farmer need to pay for maintenance?

On the second part - have you heard about Ganja act and how it is misused by Indian police for political reasons? Now the anti-cow slaughter bill can be misused by the police.

When they have enough time to catch men & women from lodges, hotels and even from their own houses for 'illegal activities', they surely will find enough time to do such a thing. Any law framed should not have loop holes for some crooked officers to take advantage of.

sorry mate, set your home right before you call upon others. PAKISTAN does not hold High Regards in this mater and so does SOUDHI. Heck Soudhi does not even allow people of other faith to buid a temple/church to worship in their land.

By the in MP it is only 7 years in Punjab and Kashmir it's 10 years:
Likewise, a 1995 Punjab Act provides for a maximum 10-year jail term for cow slaughter or a fine of up to Rs 1,000 or both. The burden of proof, like in MP, is on the accused. In Uttarakhand too, a violator can be imprisoned up to 10 years and fined. It is a non-bailable offence. Illegal transporters can face three years’ imprisonment. In Haryana, punishment for a similar crime is a maximum of five years in prison and a fine up to Rs 5,000

The Dogra Maharajas of Kashmir banned cow slaughter in 1896, also disallowing transport and sale of beef. The rulers not only outlawed cow slaughter but also banned the killing of buffalos. The offence attracts a three-year jail term and a fine of Rs 5,000.

BJP has a sizeable presence in Punjab and has been a part of the govt on and off for the past 15 years. Did this answer your question?

Is the SAD okay with being cruel to Cattle?

Loose on the road. I remember a few years back my enfield hit a vagrant cow on the road and the adjacent shop's owner came running out howling at me for having hit a "bezubaan jaanwar" or a silent animal. My reposte? I just asked him to take the 400kg beast to his own living room if he was so pained about its condition.

You guys get your beef from TN? What, you ate your own already? I remember I have had the best beef curry in my life in Cochin 3 years back. The taste still lingers. :)

Paaji,
