ISLAMABAD: At a time when most parts of the country are inundated with floods, a top Pakistan Peoples Party leader has spoken his heart out on his Twitter account, expressing the necessity of Kalabagh Dam.
Governor Punjab, Salman Taseer who unlike Pakistani politicians uses Twitter frequently, wrote on his wall: Kalabagh Dam would have helped prevent flooding. Taseer who tweets on almost every important event in the world regarding Pakistan could not stop himself from speaking about the necessity of Kalabagh dam, the project dumped by his own party to avoid any criticism in its political stronghold, Sindh.
The countrys many cities and villages have been flooded due to recent monsoon rains and the water released by India in River Chinab, the media has been reporting every event of flooding and the governor spoke to some 2710 people who follow him on twitter.
Governor Salman Taseer is among those politicians whose blatant criticism of PML-N has caused panic among the N-Leagues politicians and he continues to criticise PML-N on Twitter as well. Out of his ten tweets, he discusses the governance style of Sharif brothers in almost six of his comments, full of satire and making fun of the Sharif brothers.
Taseer follows twenty-eight people including Interior Minister Senator Rehman Malik, Marvi Memon of PML-Q, Asifa Bhutto Zardari and Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari. It is worth mentioning here that in recent days the PPP politicians have been severely criticising the Kalabagh Dam in both houses of Parliament and even on June 18, 2010 raised slogans of Kalabagh Dam not acceptable in the upper house when Senator Tariq Azeem of PML-Q called for developing consensus on the construction of water reservoir and the proceeding of the house had to be suspended for half an hour.
Experts believe that the energy crisis could not be resolved unless Kalabagh Dam was constructed. Rivers, glaciers and natural resources in the country are not being utilised in the best possible way and the construction of Kalabagh Dam and Bhasha Dam would ensure the best utilisation of these natural resources, experts maintain.
Dams built for flood control, irrigation and power generation.I dont know when our stupid politicians and miltery dictators understand it?????
Kalabag Dam feasibility was ready in 1990 .Banazir,Nawaz and Musharaf and Zardari and Gillani are all responsible for national loses and 1100 deaths due to floods in K PustoonKhawa
