Diversity should always be encouraged ...westerners have so many courses based on oriental studies, culture studies , etc .Knowledge of Sanskrit will be invaluable to Chinese archeologists , historians , people specializing in ancient culture of the subcontinent etc...most ancient Indian texts are in Sanskrit or its derivatives ...

I wish it was true. You wont understand Indian logic by learning a dead language. But it is an interesting language to learn, if you are interested in sanskrit poetry, mythology etc.

It depends. It may not be useful to talk about "Indian logic" since humans everywhere have similar concerns. But one cannot make blanket generalizations. There certainly is some effect of the ancient philosophy on present day conditions.

As regards this particular project - it may be motivated as much by Chinese domestic factors as by an interest in the outside world.
