Ahmad Masoud's spokesperson Fahim Dashti, who was among the leading figures killed during the recent Taleban takeover of Panjshir, is seen here giving an interview to the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government-based broadcaster Rudaw.

Dashti is explaining that he personally has been following Kurdish affairs in Iraq, Iran and Turkey, that a very great injustice was done to Kurds over the past decades and centuries, that the Kurdish nation and their land has been divided, that they have a right to their own territory like every other nation and that they're entitled to determine their fate themselves. He claims to be aware of the struggles conducted by Kurds in the three above mentioned countries. According to Dashti, the Kurdish autonomous region of Iraq will allow Kurds to pursue their broader goal, namely the unity of Kurds and a Kurdish homeland, on a more solid basis and with higher certainty. Dashti expresses solidarity as someone who in his own words spent part of his life struggling for freedom.

Clearly, Ahmad Masoud's connections with the zionists had reached a level where his movement would align on zio-American imperialist agendas beyond Afghanistan's borders, including the empire's program of balkanizing regional nation-states along ethno-linguistic and confessional lines. Quite obvious is the influence of French zionist operative Bernard Henry Levy, who is known not just for his relentless propaganda against the Islamic Republic, but also for denying Iranian nationhood through his attempted rewriting of history, by which he sought to demonize the concept and name of Iran / Land of Aryans, which he falsely portrayed as a WW2-era innovation meant to establish a connection with national-socialist Germany, whereas in reality usage of the name Iran has been documented for at least some 1800 years and in its older form more than 2500 years. Levy is also known for being a staunch supporter of Kurdish separatism in all four states targeted by it (Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Syria). In fact, Levy has promoted separatist movements across the board, whether in South Sudan, the Kabyle heartland of Algeria or the Zagros mountains in West Asia. He also acted as a cheerleader for practically every military intervention of NATO and the US regime during the past several decades, from former Yugoslavia and Ukraine to Iraq, Libya and Syria.

In light of Dashti's comments, which represent an affront to Iran's territorial integrity, we can understand why the IRGC, tasked with suppressing ethno-separatist terrorist grouplets, has refrained from assisting Masoud's organization in Panjshir. It is also an indication as to why Iran has preferred to conduct a rapprochement policy with the Taleban since the early to mid 2010's, rather than to bet on the former US-installed regime in Kabul.

Conversely, liberal factions in Iran (reformists, centrists), who have been the staunchest advocates of nuclear negotiations with America and have shown themselves to be more accommodating towards ethnicist demands - such as media in regional languages (launched on a considerable scale during reformist president Khatami's administration in the late 1990's and early 2000's), federalism and so on, are unsurprisingly at the forefront of the media campaign against the Taleban, and have attacked their revolutionary competitors as well as the IRGC for their policies on Afghanistan.

Interesting peripheral tidbit: an popular expat nationalist Iranian commentator who defends the Islamic Republic not for ideological reasons but because he understands that the Islamic Republic's enemies (US, zionist regime and their allies) are bent on erasing Iran as a unified nation-state, chimes in by titling one of his latest productions "Fahim Dashti's support for pan-Kurdish separatist parties of Iran. Why we're saying the Panjshir current must not be supported."

A good narrative for the Iranians to extend as an olive branch to the Taliban, and explain away why they did not support the Panjshiris.

Hopefully, the Talibs will also add women and Shia/Hazara member(s) into their government as ministers to assuage Iranian concerns.
