I understand....but I am speaking more from a theory perspective. I'm a right wing guy....I believe that govt involvement should be limited to only security, judicial system and creation and enforcing of standards. Everything else basically balloons the dual headed monster of inefficiency and debt....and it keeps getting bigger and bigger and wants more and more to be fed to it.
Govt doing taxes and subsidies to deal with "market failure" is generally a big hoax for most things (its a classic leftist ploy that ends up creating dependencies and short term feel good sentiment with little actual result other than transferring resources and seeing a cut being taken through govt inefficiency). But anyways that is a long topic to discuss.
kerala local food sucks, they should not ban junk food
I think this was first tried in Mexico, and they found this to be quite useful.......
New york has a soda tax too I believe. Not sure how successful it has been (depends who you ask I guess...just like anything in politics these days).
while refusing to get up off their butts for even minimal exercise.
I would be for regulation if they were regulating something that needed to be. After all you can't have people selling drugs on the street. The power has to be rationalised...and I am fine with that. I am speaking from theoretical perspective that we should be aiming towards in the long run (i.e high quality levels of education and awareness). Taxes are short term fixes...and they should not distract from the long term goal....because govt interference in the free market is an unhealthy thing. Its like taking a pain killer for some pain....you want to solve the root cause of the pain....and not create a painkiller dependency.
Why tax soda?
Thats the real problem to be honest.
Its ok if you eat filth if you are an active guy/gal to match it.
But the vicious fat+sugar (or empty carbs) + no physical output creates a terrible logjam in the health of an individual.
That energy input has to flow people or the lines get gummed up! Such face palm.

Escuse my French but Why the fcuk can't the Keral government do something about all those chemicals leaching into the drinking water. Kerala has some of the worlds highest cancer rates. ...and they are bl00dy regulating burgers while factory owners pump chemicals freely onto every available river!!
Sugar. Its the number one enemy. Sugar substitutes (in diet sodas) are also bad in excess.
Sugar is actually what the body loves to turn into fat (the fat we eat is a lot harder for the body to synthesise into human fat especially if its unsaturated).
Soda is the North American term for coke, Pepsi etc...what we call soda ...they call club sodaSoda got sugar???? Or are you referring to pepsi kind of drinks
