It's like saying Pakistan destroyed india on August the 14th 1947 when a Muslim minority was able to rip and dismember india to create Pakistan from conquered indian territory without indians being able to do anything about it......... .

There is very little there about protecting "West Pakistan". More about Pakistan receiving military supplies from some Middle Eastern nations and the americans sending a tough message to the Soviets and others. The above source at the end also insinuates that indians are liars too.

Yet despite india being 7x bigger than us and having abundant access to the world's most advanced weapons systems whilst we are denied this privilege, as well as unlimited assistance from america and the West, india still cannot attack and fight Pakistan. This too despite many prominent indians daily calling for the destruction of the Pakistani race and nation. So it is not feasible that in 1971, american needed to stop india from destroying "West" Pakistan. You simply couldn't as you cannot today. It's like saying that the British/Pakistanis destroyed india by dismembering it on August the 14th 1947.

1.Everybody knew that Pakistan is fighting for a lost cause.

2. Pakistan also knew that no other country will help it openly against India as it was fighting for a lost cause.

3. All countries knew that eventually Pakistan will either loose or surrender against India so there was no point in helping Pakistan.

4. International relations work on mutual interest and not on "higher, deeper, sweeter" slogans so for majority of them it was " not my circus, not my monkeys".
