PTI protests over Imran Khan’s security withdrawal

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Thursday protested with the Ministry of Interior for what it said the withdrawal of its Chairman Imran Khan’s security protocol, Geo News reported.

“If something bad were to happen to Imran Khan, the Interior Ministry would be held responsible for it,” said PTI Vice Chairman, Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

He said Imran Khan was facing threats from extremists for launching a polio immunization campaign and termed the withdrawal of his security under the prevailing circumstances as worrying.

Qureshi said the enemies of state and nation could go to any length for causing harm to Imran Khan, who is the head of the country’s second largest party. Providing security to him is a responsibility of the Federal Government, he stressed.

Militant threats: PTI requests better security for Imran Khan

With Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan receiving threatsfor backing the faltering polio vaccination campaign in the militancy hit regions of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, his party has requested the government to boost his security.
Imran, who is also a member of the national assembly, is liable to receive security protocol. But according to a letter to the Interior Minister, his party claims that the MNA from NA-56, has been given only one policeman by the state for his security.
According to the letter signed by PTI secretary general Jahangir Tareen, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune, the party claimed that Imran’s state provided security had always been modest. However, it claimed that in recent days the security detail had shrunk to just one policeman at his gate.
The letter requested the government to insure full scale security measures for Imran, including “both at his residence as well as when he is moving about.”
“The security should be commensurate with his status as the Chairman of Pakistan’s second largest party by votes, the third largest by number of seats in Parliament and the level of the security threat such leaders are subject to.”
On Thursday, the PTI claimed that their chairman had been threatened by militants for criticising attacks on polio vaccination teams.
“Mr Khan received a threat from Ansarul Mujahideen over his remarks over anti-polio campaign,” Shireen Mazari, a senior member of PTI told AFP.

This is outrageous

PTI asked for better security, instead they withdrew the nominal security...

Shows their frustration, they are really pissed off by PTI.

Nothing wrong here. Imran has nothing to fear off. After all they are all our "own people". :)

The threat is not from our people but from our "institution" who maintain a certain record.

p.s. and who are pissed off at losing $$$ due to NATO supply blockage.

And what about the threat by Taliban aka our own people to Imran khan after he said to lead polio campaign himself?

that is what I was talking about. Ansar ul Mujahiden is on Army's payroll.

He should hire private security. Ex SSGs or something like that. There's more threat from the 'official security' to IK than there is from the terrorists.

Yeah tht's why it has attacked its troops a dozen times in NWA.

collateral damage is not the civilians, often bait is used to make a certain group be known as true taliban or to get entry in TTP section.

That post......that post would give any one Brain Cancer.
Are you out of your freakin mind.

He and his party has emerged as second largest in whole country if you go by votes count. So its not like only a few Pakistanis support him.

Okey so what is left in "Majority" after counting these people out? Perhaps burgers, mentally handicapped and retards.... :)
