Zardari says PPP will release White Paper on election rigging soon
While Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman are sticking to their stances on the government-proposed 22nd Constitutional Amendment, the PPP leader also reached out to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday to convince him not to support the legislation.
Sources told Pakistan Today that former interior minister Rehman Malik met Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and while expressing the need to work together in KP, urged the PTI leader to connect the PTI chief with the PPP leader.
Following the meeting, Khattak conveyed Malik’s advise to Khan who then telephoned Zardari and exchanged views over the current political situation with special emphasis on the issue of horse-trading ahead of Senate polls, sources added.

Confirming the news, Omar Cheema, spokesperson for PTI chief Imran Khan, said the two leaders had agreed to curb horse-trading.
Reportedly, Rehman Malik and Khattak also exchanged views on the possibility of seat adjustment in Senate between PPP and PTI, so as to enable the two political parties to work together in the north-western province.

PTI is against horse trading and the only one party which has raised it's voice against horse trading in Senate elections. It was also mentioned by Javed Chaudhry (PTI Critic) that "Imran Khan is the first Political leader to raise his voice against horse trading in Senate elections".

Senate is important for PTI as NA because PTI don't want horse-trading in Senate elections and they want open voting in Senate elections to terminate horse trading curse from senate elections. And it is also important to get approval of Upper house means Senate to pass a bill in Pakistan.

Very frankly there would definitely be black sheeps in PTI that's why IK want to check them and want to remove them from his party. Earlier Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has served a show cause notice to MPA Javed Nasim for sponsoring a non-PTI candidate for the Senate from Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, under Section 7 of the Political Parties Order 2002 and the PTI Constitution.

In a press statement on Sunday, PTI said that the rebel MPA has been given 24 hours to respond, failing which he will stand expelled from the party.

Imran accuses PPP of horse-trading in collusion with JUI-F - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Monday accused the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) of being “deeply involved” in horse-trading along with the Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F). The statement came after Imran's conversation with PPP Co-Chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari to end horse-trading in Senate polls.

According to a PTI press release, Imran stated today he had spoken with Zardari on a one-point agenda: to bring an end to horse-trading in the Senate elections.

Imran also claimed that his efforts to persuade Zardari to oppose horse-trading have failed. He further claimed that PPP remains opposed to open balloting because it is deeply involved in horse trading along with JUI-F.

Given the bitter rivalry between the PPP and the PTI in recent months, political observers had been viewing the telephonic conversation between Mr Zardari and Imran as a “significant political development”.

However, Imran's fresh statement indicates that talks between the leaders hit a dead-end.

Imran added that PTI would in no way support either PPP or PML-N in “undemocratic, corrupt designs” for the Senate. Instead he himself would lead PTI's efforts to ensure a clean Senate election in KP and expose the horse-trading currently taking place.

He further maintained that his party will never make a 'deal' with any political party with regards to Senate polls, adding that PTI will now fight the Senate elections with a renewed commitment to expose and defeat those trying to buy their way into the Senate.

An earlier statement issued by PTI Information Secretary Dr Shireen Mazari regarding Mr Khan’s conversation with the PPP co-chairperson had created confusion in political circles.

“Asif Zardari called Imran Khan after agreement between (KP Chief Minister) Pervez Khattak and PPP on cooperation in Senate. Pervez Khattak will issue a detailed statement tomorrow (Monday),” a text message quoting Dr Mazari was circulated by the PTI press office on Sunday night.

Later however, Dr Mazari clarified that there had been no “understanding” or seat adjustment with the PPP and the “agreement” mentioned was on the 22nd amendment. She said all these developments had taken place after a PPP delegation, headed by former interior minister Rehman Malik, had called on the KP chief minister.

She claimed that Imran had actually asked Mr Zardari to support the proposed amendment allowing open balloting in the Senate polls. She said Mr Khan had told the PPP leader that such an amendment would strengthen democracy and democratic norms in the country.

On the other hand, Mr Zardari’s spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar claimed that Mr Zardari was returning the PTI chief’s call, which he had been unable to receive. “It really doesn't matter who made the call. This shows that all parties are equally concerned over the practice of the use of money in the Senate elections and want to discourage such practices,” he said, adding however, that the PPP was not ready to support the idea of open ballots for the Senate.

Imran, Zardari discuss Senate elections

Former president Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Sunday spoke over phone regarding the upcoming Senate elections and overall political situation in the country, Dunya News reported.

According to reports, Khan said that ‘horse trading’ is a ‘dark spot’ on the forehead of politicians, adding that the 22nd Amendment in the constitution will help get rid of it.

Reportedly, both leaders discussed possible ways of mutual-cooperation in Senate elections and have likely struck a cooperation deal at least in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A new controversy, however, emerged out of this episode when PTI central spokeswoman Shireen Mazari said that Zardari called Imran Khan
whereas former president’s spokesman Farhatullah Babar said PTI chief was the one who made the call.

PTI is Minority in lower House so PTI would also be Minority in Upper House as well so how would they be able to effect Legislation while being Minority in both Houses? At one point they talk about Resigning from Lower House but on the other they try to provide Rational for Participation in Upper House and I dont think by having no presence in Lower House can stop any Legislation to be passed by Upper.

PTI ✔ @PTIofficial

Given the intent of PPP &PMLN, PTI will now fight with renewed commitment to expose and defeat those trying to buy their way into Senate-IK.
So that means PTI cant even control its Party Members. God knows what would happen if they form Central Govt.

That is the Point of this Senate Election. So much for Senseless Arguments of Legislation and Bringing Public Issue to the lights. Its all part of forming Govt. after next Election instead of utilizing that for Public issues.
