What do you want me to do? Help Cartoon-e-Azam PM Imran Khan decimate the Pakistani economy further, impose more poverty on the nation, recognise annexation of Indian Occupied Kashmir, lie more, do more u-turns, apply for a Safiq and Ameen Certificate and believe in the Shaikh Chillian vision?
You can't expect IK to perform miracles he is only a PM. as years of corruption and economic sabotage has lead to what Pakistan is today. It will take time, perhaps decades, for fruits from change in policies to be seen. But going back to the theme, Pakistan needs to create a larger pool of quality Computer Scientists , scientists and engineers. All this needs investment and Pak gov is going to have come up with the money one way or another. Rely upon foreign investors and they will control the pace, breadth and depth of the software ecosystem in the interests of their own software industries so best to keep them out. So it would be best for Pakistan Gov to urge local Private investors to contribute financially.
These Software cities and knowledge ecosystems need to be carefully planned to ensure produced computer scientists and software engineers have sufficient work and not sitting at home or poached by foreign multinationals. No more brain drain and ensure Pakistani Computer Scientists have sufficient incentive to stay in Pakistan. There needs to be a controlled acceleration in the IT industry and it is good that IK has started off with a new slate for plans and policies to be created to facilitate this so that road blocks and bottlenecks can be prevented. At the same time policies on Innovation, Hardware technologies and complementary/supporting industries should be considered as these go hand in hand in the digital industries such as Computers, storage, components, fabrication and communication technology.
Other countries have initiated steps into the IT industry by first encouraging foreign companies to setup IT hardware assembly plants. Pakistan gov should actively engage and incentivise Cisco, Dell, Apple, etc to setup assembly plants. This would generate supporting industries and introduce new workers into Digital hardware and enhance supply chains. Whatever we do we need well educated and trained professionals who are ready to make rapid change.
