I am not clear about it .. because I have heard that I imam Bukhari didn't get married ..
BTW Sunnah means the way of prophet Muhammad SAW.. if someone says it's Sunnah that doesn't always means that it's optional , not obligatory

What's bad in getting married 3-4 times .. if they have the need of it and can fulfill the duties than its good that they get married instead of indulging into adultery
