What's new

Imran can not bring change, we will bring change in one day- Khadim Rizvi

The biggest threat to our children are these so-called religious schools. From physical torture to rapes, everything happens here and illiterate parents don't even complain because a 'molana' can't be wrong. People like these are giving bad name to Islam(a religion of peace and equality).

Another problem is that every tom dick and harry is starting his own sect. What we need the diyanet system used in Turkey and has its root in ottomon empire's time.

According to this system, the state is owns all the masjids and religious schools, it trains all the Imams and then assigns them to a masjid. The Imams are basically employee of the state. The Diyanet is also responsible of drafting the curriculum for Islamic studies in schools and also drafts the Friday sermons. Only Diyanet can construct new masjids.

If we had this system from the start then we all would have been just muslims, instead of being divided into unlimited different sects. There are more sects in Pakistan alone then they are in the rest of the world.

Isn't he the same person who said that he will make a rule and law for men to have 4 wives otherwise they will be send to jail? Lol.

That's a very good system if actually controlled by the Grand Mufti.

My only worry is if someone like Musharraf comes into power, you will have state interference in Islamic institutions and that discontent will feed Islamic and Pukhtoon resentment like it did in the past.

Regardless, something needs to be done about these renegade religious groups. I am shocked and appalled at some of the statements and rhetoric coming out of JI, JUI, TLP, LeJ, HT, Radical Shia groups, Salafists, and Ahle Hadith groups.

Glad to see, however, most religious Pakistanis supported Imran Khan and are in favor of modernization and nationalism. We need to fight the negative narrative coming from across the borders, esp from Afghanistan and Indian Muslim clergy against Pakistan.

howcome we don't have a Grand Mufti in Pakistan? Even Australia has one.

I think this why most in the diaspora are not fond going back to Pak unless the situation when you got these clowns under control but I am optimistic things will improve 40 years of Kalashnikov culture and Fat Moulavis have got Pakistan a bad image and I think most people are getting tired of there the way I see it.

Brothers Muhammad Rafi Usmani and Mufti Taqi Usmani were the heads of Dar ul Uloom Karachi and known commonly as Mufti e Azam Pakistan. I don't believe, however, that this was an official designation. They held official positions in the Federal Shariat court.

Both are very outspoken critics of the war on terror, involved in the international conferences involving the global recession, and supportive of Pakistani positions on global issues such as Kashmir, as well as relations with Afghanistan and India. They are both respected worldwide in the Muslim world and still hold positions in international Islamic organizations.

I remember his old videos on youtube when no one heard of him, insulting his opponents in punjabi. Now he have following from Torkham to Karachi. True representation of federation.

I don't think any one would be having any issues if the govt appoints a grand mufti hailing from a sunni/brayilvi school of thought.

Yaar I used to believe that if people were even remotely aware of the horrors of a typical madrassah, they would campaign to have these damned moulvis burnt alive. And yet, yet, this remains an open secret. I am absolutely dumbfounded. Astonished.

These bastards fuel sectarian hatred. They embody everything that is wrong with Islam today (and I stress the word "today"). They refuse to realise the fact that Islam is a very liberal religion. Their retrogressive stance on Islam repulses even those who're already Muslims. They rely upon rhetoric, appealing to the extremist emotions of every misguided bastard in the country. Afreen!
