Importance of Karachi and Karachiites for Pakistan

With due respect,he was in same boat as Altaf.
Nah, Altaf is urdu speaking, Zia ul Haq was Punjabi.
Btw, I dont know how is it offensive to call a Punjabi a Punjabi, and an Urdu speaking person an Urdu speaking person?

after independence Khi took care of the whole Pakistan
It was capital till late 1960's,that did helped a lot in rotating money to Kharachi.
people blame punjabi for the destruction of Karachi but i blame mafias of mqm ppp and pindi boys.
Why people have to blame Punjab?I guess a Punjabi won't reply or Punjab is easily seen on map.

Second para of Syed1 posts clearly shows that deep rooted ignorance, when it has been debunked Multiple times that Karachi isn't like sending every Pakistani a handsome amount every month.Still we have people who are like
Pakistan is a family of 10 brothers with Karachi being the oldest, most well-to-do and highest-earning brother. The rest of the brothers just leach of Karachi while lazing around at home and have nihari for breakfast, in the end they complain that Karachi is not working hard enough to earn more for the household while they themselves enjoy donkey meat biryani.

You won't find love, when we have people who are telling you that,we made Pakistan and this and that is feeding you while you are Bhikari and another who comes telling you that they are 5000 year old nation which have put spartans to shame.

Just do not want to indulge in this fazool gupshap.....but one point to ponder....Four ethnic identities are on one side against one.....And it was well predicted by Muolana Abhl Kalam in 1940s....read his last days speeches....

Others said this first. that you are refugees, and bhikairs and we gave you shelter etc etc, and that they should be pushed out to sea. have you forgotten that? the whole revenue thing is said in response to those comments. But it gives no one a right to call others bhikaari. it is what it is: failure of govt to spread the development around, and to take care of the people of Pakistan. People who are deprived will always talk about how are they are being oppressed by another well to do group (earlier it was muhajirs, now it is the Punjabis).

To be frank Urdu-speaking is very wide term.People from UP,Bihar,Lucknow,Gujrat,Bombay,Bengal and many areas of British India, which came to Pakistan adopted it as their sole language(Quaid wanted that too).It has been 70 years we should lose these ethnic names and rename areas along with new division of land masses.

will that be adoptable to others.....The local sindhis do not consider them as Sindhis....

This problem was started back in Ayub Govt....People still remember...what was told to people in Karachi if they decided to vote Fatima Jinnah...The famous ..."agay samndar hey... "....

NADARA still asking Urdu speaking people regarding their relationship in India, the identity of grand parents....after so called 70 years.

These activities only cultivates hate.

This is endless debate....BTW i am not urdu speaking ...but witnessed all this BS since decades.

As a born and bred Karachiite myself living in Islamabad since 2001, I find the excessive bragging about Karachi this and that as nothing more than misplaced bravado.

Karachi being the port city, has had it obvious advantages of generating more revenue, attract Industrial establishments and provide more jobs, businesses and earning opportunities. Karachi is indeed a grand city of Pakistan

Anyone trying to belittle or excessively exalt Karachi is no better or worse than the other.

What a Punjabi has do with it,who probably never travels out of his District?
Punjab has more refugees then all Provinces combined, i have yet to see racism and bigotry from Punjabis towards other groups.

Then better redraw border and change all old names, same like once there was NWFP.

That must be shoved down their throat for greater good.

These are fault lines which state has to make sure are filled over time, heated and their trace lost over time.A state never allows these to be exploited.

We are talking about known damage and none of COAS who did coupe were Punjabis. For most part of Pakistan Punjabis only have got political foot hold after 1990 with PMLN irony is that it's top leader is also from Amritsar.

Punjab had been the crucial pivot that had thrust Bhutto (a Sindhi) to power... Even the top PMLN leadership is Ethnically Kashmiri .... Punjabis always had played an important role in the national politics.... It's just that they are the least racist ethnic group in Pakistan who, unlike many other Pakistani ethnic groups, do not choose/select their leaders on the basis of ethnicity..

Jalandhar is a Punjabi area. Remained in India, but still Punjabi.

1984 interview of General Zia ul Haq by S. Venkat Narayan :

.........
....
Q. You are yourself a Jalandhar-born Punjabi. What is your own perception of the Punjab agitation?
A. I was born in Jalandhar but I am a very patriotic Pakistani. I am now a Pakistani and I am now a son of the soil. Whatever was there we left it for you to look after...

true Karachi has geographical advantage and it was natural for industries to florish near around port but one cant deny that khi is an important city for Pakistan and had Karachi kept progressing whole of Pakistan would have benifited!

Just one request to Karachi walas, stop calling yourself muhajir. You, Karachi residents, are proud citizens of Pakistan, please stop using this word MUHAJIR...
we dont call ourselves muhajir but others do!

non muhajirs
What the...This is exactly what I was talking about i.e. Mohajir vs Non-Mohajir.
No matter whichever part of Pakistan we are living, we are all Pakistanis. No such thing as mohajir or non-mohajir.
