The IMF just released the October 2015 WEO (ie. World Economic Outlook). There are two eye-popping new trends.

Firstly, beginning in 2016, China's nominal per-capita GDP will surpass Russia and Brazil.

Nominal Per-Capita GDP for 2016 among BRIC countries
1. China - $8,866
2. Brazil- $8,118
3. Russia - $8,058
4. India - $1,821

Secondly, it is shocking how huge the Chinese economy has become in comparison to the other BRIC countries.

For this year, the Chinese nominal GDP is almost ten times larger than the Russian economy. Now that's big.

Nominal GDP for 2015 among BRIC countries
1. China - $11.4 trillion
2. India - $2.2 trillion
3. Brazil - $1.8 trillion
4. Russia - $1.2 trillion

Wow! Congrats to China. Also still growing much better than Russia and Brazil!

Your pictures look wrong w.r.t India info...also on my end IMF is giving me that China will surpass per capita of Brazil in 2019 and will be behind Russia for some time longer...so I am wondering where you got this snapshot? Is yours an older projection?

The data came out today.

It's on the IMF website.

Just check the boxes for the BRIC countries and the data pops out.

I looked at your first link. In the top right-hand corner, your table says "April 2015."

Look at the top right-hand corner of both of my charts for this thread. They say "October 2015."

In post #1, click on my links to the IMF. You can see the high-resolution IMF tables.

what are y-o-y % please?
Okay, I'll do the number-crunching for you.

China's nominal per-capita GDP grew from $7,571 (2014) to $8,280 (2015).

($8,280 - $7,571) / $7,571 = 9.4% year-over-year growth in Chinese nominal per-capita GDP

----------

China's nominal GDP grew from $10.356 trillion (2014) to $11.385 trillion (2015).

($11.385 trillion - $10.356 trillion) / $10.356 trillion = 9.94% year-over-year growth in Chinese nominal GDP

.
I'm not happy with this result for one reason. We didn't get on top because we reached our goal, we got on top because the others sucked.

Russia and Brazil shrank!!!!

Anyways, the only positive toke away from this is now is the time to move on to second tier countries like Korea, South America, and parts of Europe.

Thanks a bunch!

The shocking trend is the massive contraction in Russia and Brazil.

I agree with @Genesis ...more of own goals by Brazil and Russia...when you look at what the projections were earlier in the year.

Lets see how the next release in 2016 April looks like!

India's growth is healthy, its good to see Pan-Asian growth. Anyways a healthy Sino-Indo growth is great for the region, great for the world economy. Great for their investors, too. ;)

Excellent progress. An almost 10% yoy growth in both nominal per capita and total gdp is quite impressive.

Thanks for the most up-to-date information.
I'd like to know what's the impact of SNA2008 on China's GDP.
The recent report released in September by CSIS claims the GDP of 2008 has been considerably underestimated.

But I agree with @Genesis, it's more because of other countries' abysmal behaviour.
To match our counterparts in East Asia, it's still a long way to go.
