My kids saved a pup a couple of weeks ago, roaming on the road in front of our house.

Then a week ago this beautiful long haired dog walked into our lives and has stuck around.

Then a few nights ago I heard another puppy crying outside our window, and she and the first one are friends now so that's the third adoptee in 2 weeks.

This in addition to the 3 we already have (rotts and a lhasa) ....

a dog is a pet. guard dog, sheep dog, lap dog whichever dog. you cannot have dog and not have a pet. please do not get one if you cannot spend time with it. it will break the dogs heart. a dog will love its owner even if the owner doesn't love the dog. do not misuse or abuse that bond.

Take care with your decision.
You want a potentially lethal animal in your home which will be taken care of by "someone". That dog will forge the most attachment to that "someone" and if you and that "someone" ever get into a disagreement the dog will come after you if commanded to, or even at the sight of you trying to harm him. A serious rottweiler, when it comes, only on account of F=MxA, you will be knocked down.Then the teeth come.

When we were kids, my friends dad had a rottweiler, he took us out on holiday one summer, the first rule when i sat into the Land Rover (the old Defender model) and that beast had the whole backspace right behind me was "don't scream and never put your hand near/over/above me (friend's dad).

Imho, you should make some efforts into the dog forging attachment either with you (despite you clearly saying you're not interested) or perhaps if you have kids old enough. Like....you give it food and the kids play with it. Also, when it arrives, you should be the one spending most time with it initially and giving it food.

In absence of all of this, i'd suggest investing in some dog trainer lessons...on how to stand to not get knocked down when a dog charges and learning to expose arm so it can't go for the neck.

A chihuahua can do that. It can even do that when noone is breaking in, just for sheer nuissance.

You are making a big mistake thinking the Dog knows who the house belongs to. If you are buying your chawkidar a dog instead of a gun then ask the chawkidar if he would like a dog or if has ever had a dog. Because the Dog will be protecting your chawkidars personal space and property.

Yes that's what they are for, but generally speaking they have the strongest bite force. German Shepard is round about 250 PSI and Kangal is 700+ PSI. Imagine what it will do to the bone with that pressure.

Kangals are know for killing wolves that attack their herds, they are being used in Namibia to defend herds agains Cheetahs.
Those are real guard dogs, definately no pets.

True they are mostly used for protections. I am very impressed with its sheer bite force. It's like a lion or tiger bite. It can tear apart other animal challenging them.

Unless its overfed and under-exercised, I have yet to come across a non-serious rott.

These were bred originally as working dogs. To pull the meat carts of butchers.

Anyone who has held an untrained rott on a leash knows how it pulls. One of my puppies (7 months old at the time) was once tied to the garden wrought iron jhoola (swing) by one of my servants.

Suddenly I hear squealing and excitement from the garden. My rott pup has dragged the jhoola halfway up the driveway to the gate. lol Mind you its a proper 3 seater jhoola with a canopy and all.

Let me rephrase the question, which of these dogs requires minimum handling? I have heard long coat GSDs require daily combing and grooming. And how much minimum time do I have to spend with it since it will be living outside the building and in the lawn.

Bro I don't know the prices in Pakistan, but here anywhere between 60K to a lac for a good GSD. Good means with proper certificates, hip dysplasia ruled out, not necessarily show quality/ribbon winner parent (those go into more than a few lacs), and all the basic shots given up to 3 months.

You can get 40K ones also, but I would be very careful with GSDs because they are so badly and rampantly bred by the cage-class so called assembly line breeders. Forget breed points like stance, slope, carriage, snout, ears, etc.

I would honestly not be comfortable with a doberman around my kids.

Though in the end, how a dog turns out is all up to who his master is and how the household environment is. But still, certain breeds have certain characteristics.

A rott is a one man dog. You have to be his master. Chowkidar, chaprasi will not do. Again, not 100% safe with very small kids.

If kids are an issue, then the retriever variety is best. Goldies, labs etc. Best with kids.

Otherwise, rott, alsatian, belgian malinois are my pick.

Never a pit bull please. Though they can be actually very sweet. But the risk ....
