If Pakistan starts JFT-17 after1965 arms embargo

Imagine if Pakistan start JFT 17 fighter jet program in just after the 1965 war when American govt put the arms embargo on Pakistan.and Pakistan decide to go for his own fighter aircraft and start hiring the engineers and designers and aeronautical specialist from different part of the world and also buy some new high tech aircrafts of that time and we had most of them like F-104 , Mirages 3,and also some Chinese aircrafts.because in 60s that program must be so simple because on that time we had enough money to feed the program and to spent on R&D of different technologies for the fighter jets and we was able to get ready the jet in mid 70s with our own resources and later on we can induct new avionics and other update features for the jet and we would also earn the money to sale this jet to third world countries of Africa Latin america just like China did the progress on Soviet help. Why we always look to buy not to produce even in good economic progress time in 60s.

We did, I think it was called Project Sabre II - but was abandoned for JF-17.

Yup And today we were producing J-31 stealth in our own country..
And were in the race of manufacturing 5th Gen fighters.
Thunder seem to be like thi stoday if we started that program earlier.

But if we did it in mid 60s. That was a golden time because no restrictions was on purchasing any thing from Europe like we purchase the parts for nuclear program in latter 70s and early 80s decade but after the cold war ends the soft era gone and restrictions was tighten specially against Pakistan to stop its journey towards the self sufficient in defence sector

I doubt it would have went as smooth as you picture it. even China and it's fighter programs didn't really take off til the late 90's and are based off of Russia,French, and Israeli designs.

But bro remember in that time china was not in great relations with Europe like Pakistan had in 60s and 70s on that time we had enough money to hire international engineers for the jet program

We were not stopped from progressing towards an indigenous fighter program just by restrictions but sometimes by luring. F16 in early 90s were mostly given to stop us from joining JFT program, China kept on asking us but our engagement was minimal to nothing before Musharraf took over and US again offered more of our embargoed F16s to Musharraf but he then decided to go Full On ahead with the JFT program. That was when most of the blue prints were shredded off and redesigning was started based on Pakistan requirements. Pakistani engineers were given full opportunity to design as they wanted.

Just like now all the major powers are working on laser defence shield program. Like USA, China, Israel, Russia all are working on laser to perform the duty of missile defence shield if we join this run now we will able to do the job to save the major defence installation.india is also working on high voltage beam to destroy the incoming missile. So we must start work on this side to development for our defence to avoid the any major failure in defence against the missile

why does Pakistan want so many JF-17s?? is it because they have the production of it, or is it because it is a cheaper aircraft to replace multiple jets? and why doesn't Pakistan procure J-10s and J-31s for the future?

We want more JFT because we can made the changes in it as we required and cheap price and easy maintained because of reliable supply parts from china and if we did it in 60s or 70s we have more bargaining power with US and in these days we most probably up graded it on super thunders or might be working on stealth aircraft.but if we now learn from this past mistake we can start work on other ignored fields like laser defence, engines for jets and other navy and army defence equipments to stop gap in future and keep going on journey towards self reliance. We have to just make sure our intentions not even a lot of money required for these fields.for example we have a lot of retired aircrafts from PAF we can distribute them into our universities of engineering and technology for students to spent their time to study the mechanism of operations of these aircrafts and their airframe designs to describe the properties and function of each and every component then ask them to start reverse engineered these components and watch them how to produce similar like them in next step we can give them a task to make better performing part like this.might be one day we see an institution in Pakistan like MIT USA brothers nothing is impossible and in past our countrymen did the miracles in different field we can not only rely on chinese supply or russian or only put the burden of all R&D on PAC kamra we have some good universities in Pakistan like NUST, Air university, UET lahore, NED university, GIK and also other institutions like NDC, Nescom,KRL,HMC taxila we can send our intelligent students to abroad for higher studies and get expertise on latest technologies then we can become really self sufficient in modern age but start today not keep it for tomorrow.
