Punjab since independence was better then rest of province .. no matter who was ruling it .. Punjab was better then rest of provinces in when it was under PMLQ, PPP, PMLN, Army ... punjab was even better then rest of provinces in pakistan b4 nawaz sharif was born .. but i knw as a patwari u must think that SS used time machine and went in 1947 and distributed laptops that is why punjab was more literate

That's the worst arguments i ever heard. In early 90s, when people used to visit "Mardan" from Punjab (Lahore, Faisalabad & Multan) they used to admire the roads and clearances of my City. And Lahore & Especially Faisalabad, they were having worst infrastructure (thanks to Fazl-e-Haq). This whole ideology changed when NS Came into picture and the Motorway Project was started. (This is one example)

Previous Laptop Schemes were for skilled students, not for the IDPs. And that is not the topic. But come on, who I am explaining this, who has made his mind and hell with the rest of the world.

Yep then we also need to withdraw fee exemptions to FATA students. Like I said before, these Laptops will be given at the cost of students in Punjab and if people have issues with this, then there is no need for taking extra steps. Why should one be more loyal to the King than the King himself.

Last time we discussed here, Punjab was leading in enrollment and education facilities to rest of the country....I would appriciate if you can provide us with the appealing % of illitrate people.

Let me define what Literacy stands for. It is the ability to read and write. Nothing more. In Pakistan it has been modified in some corners to suggest that signing ones name makes them literate which is nonsense.

Literacy rate in Punjab stood at (59.6 %), Sindh (58.2%), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (50.9%) and Balochistan at (51.5%).

Now in those % KP has only 10% females that are literate. So laptops will probably have to go to most of the men.

Agreed,even then U need to train them (IDP) how to operate. But first basic things comes first like food,clothing,water,electricity,education,proper schools

Yes, the prerequisites of electricity and basic necessities take precedence but that does not mean you do not provide people a chance to catch up to the world in some form.
After all, look at all the cheap computer projects in India and Africa. Similar lack of facilities exist there as well, but there are people who wish to give children there access to the information highway.

These laptops are for Students among IDPs. Besides federal govt has announced in budget to distribute laptops all over the Pakistan. Don't know what you want to argue here..

Oscarji,Language should not be a obstcal. My wife who is from vernacular medium had no knowledge about internet.It is only by watching & observing me while working on a laptop,she knows some of the things.(Google,You tube,Facebook)

Here I Agree with u,such a. proposal will make the IDP computer literate. Yes there are cheap computer projects in India or Africa.

In fact in the coming years,a person will be considered ill-literate,if he doesn't have a basic knowledge of computers.It doesn't matter even if he doesn't own a laptop or destop

The first thing the students of Fata would want is to have places that make students. Build proper schools that teach how to use laptops first.

There are many students of Warziristan studying in other parts of country as well.. saw a guy in IDP who went from Islamabad to help his parents in camps even my friend Hamza in from from waziristan.. that is true that waziristan need proper infrastructure roads schools hospitals etc etc

as you said yourself students of waziristan studying in other parts of the country. what would you say would be the main cause for this? i am not against laptops. i want them to have everything that my children would have. but giving them laptops is wasting our money and their time because of a publicity stunt. build schools. the roads and hospitals will come by them. teach a man to fish, and you wont have to give him fish later. giving him remote control cars instead of fish for cameras will not look like a diservice to him at all.
