ASIAN DEFENCE: IDEX 2009 :GIDS brings Pakistan to the world
Launched in June 2007, Global Integrated Defence Systems (GIDS) (Hall 12, Stand C20) was established with seven of Pakistans leading defence companies, offering a range of complementary specialisations and a large collective industrial base as Pakistans leading domestic defence supplier.
The basic concept of GIDS was to establish a single provider of integrated solutions across land, sea and air domains for both domestic and export markets.
GIDS companies encompass a broad spectrum of capabilities and products, and their research and development efforts make them the leading investors in Pakistans hightechnology sector. While the companies continue to operate independently, they come together under the GIDS banner for export. Most of the groups export sales are in the Gulf and South Asia regions, where GIDS promotes joint ventures and other agreements with international partners.
The seven companies are Advanced Engineering Research Organisation (AERO), Integrated Defence Systems (IDS), Marine Systems (MSL) Xpert Engineering Services, Institute of Industrial Control Systems (IICS), Al-Technique Corporation of Pakistan (ATCOP) and Scientific Engineering & Technology Services (SETS).
