ICC suspends Yasir Shah after positive drug test

Apparently the drug is used to treat muscle weakness and Yasir Shah was undergoing treatment for his back injury. Lets see if his defence can sustain that he was using these substances on a prescription.

Edit: Primarily used as an anti-diuretic for the treatment of hypertension.

We need a doctor to shed light on this issue.........
Which drug?

What if he uses the medication to regulate high blood pressure? Plus I would really like to know how "Chlortalidone" (a diuretic that is used to treat high blood pressure) effects a spin bowlers action and/or performance on the field.

Any doctor around to shed some light on this? @Akheilos @WAJsal

This is what Cricinfo says about the possible options for Yasir Shah now:

While he is provisionally suspended, Yasir cannot play - or be involved in any capacity in - international matches, and games organised by any national cricket board or its affiliated members. He can request for his B sample to be tested, and if that test does not confirm a positive result then the entire test will be considered negative and the suspension will be lifted with immediate effect.

Yasir can also request for a hearing before an anti-doping tribunal through a written application that must be received by the anti-doping manager within 14 days. Should he want a hearing, Yasir must state in his application how he responds to the charge and his explanation for the same.

As per my knowledge diuretics Specially thiazides are used for acute HTN but prolonged use are not advised due to serious side effects, there are a lot of better drugs such as amlodipin, ARBs, beta blockers, ACEI etc for long term use

I think this might be the reason behind Yasir shah's use of diuretic

. . .
This medication is for treating blood pressure , must be some Indian lab technician who made false report about this

Another culprit is England any Pakistani player that gives them trouble on field they do some off field shenanigans against him

. .
Chlorthalidone is a diuretic!! It's not an performance enhancing drug....it's normally used in hypertension....But excreting excess water from the system....aka more urine by increasing blood flow through kidneys!!
A common application of diuretics is for the purposes of invalidating drug tests.Diuretics increase the urine volume and dilute doping agents and their metabolites.
And,to say that he is taking treatment for back pain is absurd....diuretic has no role in treatment of backache!!

. .
Spinners don't gain from performance meds as they do not depend on SPEED

Also player had come clean was given blood pressure medication diuretic , blood pressure is common ailment in South Asia
